Wikiversity:Mission
(Redirected from Wikiversity:Wikiversity mission)
Wikiversity's current mission statement is:
Wikiversity is a centre for the creation and use of free learning materials and activities. Its primary priorities and goals are to:
- Create and host a range of free-content, multilingual learning materials/resources, for all age groups and learner levels
- Host learning and research projects and communities around existing and new materials
This statement derives from the Wikimedia Foundation approved Wikiversity project proposal [1] and from further discussion and development.[2] An early version of the mission can be seen here.
Notes
- In the fulfillment of its mission, other tasks and goals may be initiated and developed by participants to support learning and the creation of new content.
- Wikiversity's mission is closely aligned with the Wikimedia Foundation's mission which "is to empower and engage people around the world to collect and develop educational content under a free license or in the public domain, and to disseminate it effectively and globally."[3]
