Wikiversity:Child protection policy

You can help develop this proposal, share your thoughts, or discuss its adoption as a Wikiversity policy, guideline, or process. References or links should describe this page as a "proposal".

This policy addresses concerns related to protecting our younger participants to keep them safe.

General

edit

Wikiversity participants often assume a level of maturity on the part of learners. Learning resources and discussions may reflect this assumption. Parents are strongly advised to supervise their children and review resources before giving their child or children permission to use and contribute to Wikiversity.

A machine readable notice must be placed at the top of resources intended to be appropriate for children, containing a general disclaimer which will hopefully permit access by child protection software. Resources intended to be appropriate for children must not depict adult situations, including files of an explicit or sexual nature, sexually suggestive content, discussion of drug use, or similar material. Resources without this machine readable notice may not be appropriate for children.

Resources which no longer intend to be, no longer are, or are not appropriate for children must not include this machine readable notice. If you add inappropriate material or files to resources intended to be appropriate for children, you may be blocked for 7 days, unless there is a consensus that the resources in question should no longer attempt to be appropriate for children and the notice was removed beforehand. If a decision to block for more than 7 days is needed, discussion will begin at Wikiversity:Community Review.

We are endeavoring to see whether child protection software can filter works which do not contain a machine readable notice.

Bullying

edit

Bullying is counter-productive.

Wikiversity has a zero tolerance policy towards bullying. You are expected to act with civility towards one another. If you condone or bully another person you may be (temporarily) blocked. If you feel that another person on Wikiversity is behaving in a way that is distressing, please tell a responsible adult to notify the custodians. Do not continue to communicate with the other person. Do not give out personal information to anyone.

Pedophiles

edit

Wikiversity has a zero tolerance policy regarding pedophiles. Anyone condoning pedophilia or identified as a pedophile will be blocked indefinitely. If you are a younger editor and feel that another person on Wikiversity is behaving in a way that you feel threatens your personal safety, please tell a responsible adult to notify the custodians. Do not continue to communicate with the other person. Do not give out personal information to anyone.

Action

edit

If you believe a person is violating this policy, please report it at Wikiversity:Request custodian action. If a decision by the community is needed the discussion may be moved to Wikiversity:Community Review for review by the community.
