These assessment comments were submitted on , and refer to this previous version of the article

The story behind the creation of this article began with me overhearing the author talking about a patient of his who had an infection with the rather rare Aerococcus urinae, and realizing the associated article in Wikipedia doesn't have any such image, so I suggested to him to make an article about the case. The author got written permission from the patient to publish details of his hospital stay, and I got to visit the microbiology department at the hospital to get the pictures displayed in the work.

I did not meet the patient, but I can assert that the photographs belong to the same patient who is described in the case. I find no reason to believe that the story is altered in any way from the actual hospital stay.

Regarding conflicts of interests:

  • I am a co-worker of the author of this article.
  • I took the images for this work.
  • I do a little bit of everything at Wikiversity Journal of Medicine.

The written consent from the patient translates as "I approve that details from this hospital stay will be used in a scientific work, including online publication, which includes approximate age and sex. The work will be anonymised as much as possible, that is, no name or social security number will be mentioned." The article has not been shown to the patient.
