Section headings

  1. Simple, effective, 2-level heading structure - could be developed in more detail
  2. Check grammar e.g., questions need question marks
  3. The definitions section could be merged into the Overview - a separate section isn't really needed for definitions.
  4. Sections which include sub-sections should also include an overview paragraph (which doesn't need a separate heading) before branching into the sub-headings.
  5. Make sure to avoid providing too much background/generic material. Instead briefly summarise background concepts and provide wiki links to further information. Then focus most of the content on directly answering the core question posed by the sub-title of chapter.

Key points

  1. In-text links to relevant Wikipedia articles are good/helpful/recommended - but key citations should be provided to the best primary, peer-reviewed theory and research sources about the topic
  2. More could be said about different types of passion, with examples
  3. Consider adding more examples and other interactive features such as tips, tables, images etc.
  4. Ideally, develop the take-home messages and practical recommendations in more detail, with more specific examples and tips based on psychological science

Overall

  1. The Overview is underdeveloped. Consider expanding by merging it with the subsequent section.
  2. The Conclusion is too long and lacks precision in relation to summarising what is known in relation to the focus questions and particularly the question in the sub-title.
  3. The chapter drifts from the central topic, particular when it gets to teams etc. Whilst a team setting could be useful as a practical example or case study, it isn't clear how this helps with providing a synthesis of the best available psychological theory and research about the relationship between passion and well-being.

  2. The Reeve (2018) textbook is overused as a citation - instead, utilise primary, peer-reviewed sources.
  1. Some relevant research is reviewed, but there is a lack of a comprehensive, focused, critical review of research about the relationship between passion and well-being.
  2. When describing important research findings, consider including a bit more detail about the methodology and indicate the size of effects in addition to whether or not there was an effect or relationship.
  3. Greater emphasis on major reviews and/or meta-analyses would be helpful.

    1. Overall, the quality of written expression is reasonably good.
    2. Use third person perspective rather than first person (e.g., "we") or second person (e.g., "you") perspective.
    3. Avoid directional referencing (e.g., "As previously mentioned").
    4. Avoid starting sentences with a citation unless the author is particularly pertinent. Instead, it is more interesting for the the content/key point to be communicated, with the citation included along the way or, more typically, in brackets at the end of the sentence.

  3. Learning features
    1. Use in-text interwiki links, rather than external links.
    2. No use of embedded links to related book chapters. Embedding interwiki links links to related book chapters helps to integrate this chapter into the broader book project.
    3. Good use of images. One image appears to have been deleted, probably due to copyright issues.
    4. No use of tables.
    5. Excellent use of feature boxes.

    7. Basic use of case studies or examples.

    1. The grammar for some sentences could be improved (e.g., see the [grammar?] tags).

Overall

  1. Overall, this is a solid presentation. Production qualities are very good. Content-wise the presentation seems to drift somewhat off topic.
  2. This presentation makes effective use of simple tools.
  1. Content selection seems in places to not match the topic: "What is the relationship between passion and well-being?"
  2. Add and narrate an Overview slide, to help orientate the viewer about what will be covered.
  3. A Conclusion slide is presented with a take-home message(s). No mention of the potential causal relationship that passion might influence well-being?
  1. The presentation is interesting to watch and listen to.
  2. The presentation makes effective use of text and image based slides with narrated audio.
  3. Well paced.
  4. The font size is mostly sufficiently large to make it easy to read.
  5. The model is a bit blurry. The distinction between the two types of passion isn't really followed through to the Conclusion.
  6. The visual communication is effectively supplemented by images.
  1. Communicate the chapter title and sub-title in both the video title and on the opening slide this helps to clearly convey the purpose of the presentation.
