Finding an active project edit

Hello, I'm trying to find an active Psychology page where people are collaborating, but it seems like the group's last activity was back in 2008. Could anyone point me in the right direction? --BrienWest (discusscontribs) 19:33, 30 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Why not start a group yourself? On the Dutch wikiversity I use Sprintr (www.sprintr.com) to inform group members and set up an action list; if you need more info? please contact me by mail tim.ruijters@gmail.com, Timboliu (discusscontribs) 11:08, 29 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Featured content edit

I nominated a few projects to featured content, but the page has been inactive for some time. I hope to bring attention to Wikiversity:Featured, in attempt to bring this content to featured status. Does anyone else have content they would like to propose, or work on for this status? - Sidelight12 Talk 12:42, 2 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

EduWiki Conference 2013 - call for proposals! edit

Hi All,

Wikimedia UK's second annual EduWiki conference will take place in Cardiff, UK on 1 and 2 November 2013.

A recent white paper from TurnItIn, the online plagiarism-prevention service used widely across higher education in the UK, claims that "Wikipedia has an outsized presence as a content source for student writing". [1] This study is based on an analysis of over 112 million content matches from 28 million student papers submitted to TurnItIn between July 2011 and June 2012. 11% of these content matches are from Wikipedia. However, the same report is quick to explain that Wikipedia has academic merit in terms of educational value. TurnItIn's recommendation is to "educate students that the true value of Wikipedia is to provide a curated summary on a topic, and that they should follow the sources and citations at the bottom of Wikipedia entries to verify the accuracy of the information and to uncover primary source material" [2].

Wikmedia UK is now inviting proposals for papers, presentation, provocations and/or posters, especially ones addressing the Wikipedia problem highlighted by the TurnItIn white paper. For more information please see here.

Queries about the conference or any other aspect of Wikimedia UK's Education activities can be sent directly to WMUK's Education Organiser toni.sant@wikimedia.org.uk

Mobile wikiversity - collapse boxes not working (again) edit

I have just started designing quiz questions using {{Collapse_top}} and {{Collapse_bottom}} to contain answers that are revealed on click/touch, similar to the examples on Test and Quiz. But on the mobile site they are not working. They are permanently expanded with no interactivity.

Can this be fixed? Please help!

Example pages documenting problem: Blood_pH (regular) works and Blood pH (mobile) does not. I was able to test it down to specific classes and found that mw-collapsible does not work on the mobile site. I am just guessing here, as I don't know enough to follow it any further, but according to Manual: Collapsible elements, this feature is implemented through jQuery. My guess is that jQuery is not automatically included on the mobile site. I don't know if there is a way it can be included on a page level or by condition. Anyone else? -- Dave Braunschweig (discusscontribs) 14:53, 28 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Actually jQuery is loaded for the mobile site, seems like site/project-specific JS and CSS are not though. This problem exists on English Wikipedia too. I think there isn't anything that can be done about it here. Looks like my cache wasn't clearing. Mobile uses different JS and CSS files, and at first looked like it was ignoring my changes to it. -- darklama  17:22, 28 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Alas, the collapsible elements are not working on the mobile site again. I do think these elements are a great feature when they work, especially to add interactivity and limit scrolling required by mobile users... Can you explain what you changed last time or can you put it back to working again please? I thought the problem might be in somewhere like MediaWiki:Mobile.css but not sure. I'd also like to have a go at some css for the mobile site as some of my styles don't translate so well to small screens at present, and perhaps some responsive media queries - is it possible to load external css for specific wikiversity pages (i.e. override the current mobile css)? HTTPS for users with an account edit

Greetings. Starting on August 21 (tomorrow), all users with an account will be using HTTPS to access Wikimedia sites. HTTPS brings better security and improves your privacy. More information is available at m:HTTPS.

If HTTPS causes problems for you, tell us on bugzilla, on IRC (in the #wikimedia-operations channel) or on meta. If you can't use the other methods, you can also send an e-mail to https@wikimedia.org.

Greg Grossmeier (via the Global message delivery system). 18:59, 20 August 2013 (UTC) (wrong page? You can fix it.)[reply]

As I just updated on the meta page, we've delayed this rollout by one week. The change will now take place on August 28 at 1pm Pacific Time. Please take a look at gadgets or bots you maintain to make sure they'll continue to work; more information at meta. Sharihareswara (WMF) (discusscontribs) 21:31, 21 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This user has been creating a lot of pages and then all of a sudden requests for deletion of the page. I saw the Category:Candidates for speedy deletion and I was Ya’Allah look how many pages are here and all of them were from Fasten. And Dave had to revert his/her edits. I fear that she might create more work for Wikiversity. ----The Gir’s and Sing 17:52, 21 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

User:Fasten has been a prolific contributor for many years. For some reason, this user requested speedy deletion of several hundred contributions on 30 July 2013 with the only explanation being 'Deletion request by author'. As I indicated at User talk:Fasten, many of these articles did not appear to meet the requirements for speedy deletion at Wikiversity:Deletions. I was hoping for a response from User:Fasten, however, the discussion above regarding the request for additional sysops and apparent consensus regarding these speedy deletions prompted me to be bold and roll back the deletion requests. I did not alter any requests in the 'User:' namespace. -- Dave Braunschweig (discusscontribs) 03:35, 22 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, when you include a category in your posts using [[Category:name]], you put the page you are editing in that category. If you instead want to reference the category, use [[:Category:name]]. I've corrected the text above to remove the Colloquium from speedy deletion. -- Dave Braunschweig (discusscontribs) 03:51, 22 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
