Wikiversity:Candidates for Custodianship/Dave Braunschweig (Bureaucrat)
Dave Braunschweig (talk • email • contribs • stats • logs • global account)
editI would like to nominate and recommend @Dave Braunschweig: as an en.wv bureaucrat. Dave has been a significant and consistent contributor to en.wv content and administration over several years, including being the most active custodian for at least the last couple of years. From what I've seen, he has excellent communication and technical skills, respects consensus, and makes level-headed decisions.
For quite some time now, we have been thin-on-the-ground when it comes to active bureaucrats. -- Jtneill - Talk - c 00:38, 13 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

- Support Dave Braunschweig has been instrumental in providing open forums. Such is a necessity if science is to advance. Without people such as him sites like wikiversity would not be possible. RAYLEIGH22 (discuss • contribs) 00:03, 27 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
- Support of course he's qualified, and we need him as it remains only one active bureaucrat for more than one month. JackPotte (discuss • contribs) 07:05, 13 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
- Support No (pretty much) active bureaucrat as of now. -Atcovi (Talk - Contribs) 09:41, 13 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

- Template:Negative Neutral I have reviewed the past communications with him. Then, I found that channel hadn't been happy and hadn't got a good solution - only others' giving-up was similar as his successes in solving problems. I don't think freedom online-places like Wikipedia and Wikiversity, in which everyone is of the equality and volunteering their new knowledge, needs this type of identities - like Bureaucrat. Bureaucrat-ship's given, if being totally according the pasted conservative ideas, formations and technologies, would kill new persons' innovation and fresh ideas online, good for up-dating sustainability. We might live in the pasted and old-fashioned time. Meanwhile, giving the classes to our users, as the distinguish of who was super-men and who was lower-level-men, wasn't a good idea. In the movies, even superman himself didn't need a authority-identity. But, why did I give a 'negative' but still 'Neutral' common? If he was really serving users very well for many years with some great contributions, it's no need others gave him the identity but he was living in our hearts as a good public server, naturally. This pathway is better. It's like Jesus in Christianity was there that he didn't need the authority given by others but was right Lord King. He needs commons to feel about his kindness and forgiveness. Therefore, like American President Election, he can give a presentation to tell some new ones like us what he has done. Let others feel his good, rather than bad - causing that virtual modifications also need explicit expressions, somehow. If he can give a list showing what kind of parts in online Wiki-life were contributed by him, and among which what kind of parts were with the new ideas for future, I would give up this comment with the fairness of him. This statement above was my opinion.
- Another perspective, I think, if different voices like mine has been raised out, the online-writing safety and online-rights of the voters themselves should be protected. That's the representative of democracy in election. At first, I thought ‘anonymous’ should be a right, but I found right after my pushing out this vote, my name was automatically and technologically put following. Then, I thought it wasn't also a good idea to ignore voter's expressions whether or not they would like hide their names. Finally, I thought, directly putting name was out of my fears. Then, I has done so

- Support He is extremely helpful, without his support we probably would have already given up! DustinEirdosh (discusss • contribs) 12:13, 15 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
- Support And he is a very good mentor. --Thierry613 (discuss • contribs) 16:22, 16 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
- Support If this is something that he desires it should be his. He was very helpful to me when I started on this site. Jon Michael Swift (discuss • contribs) 01:44, 17 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
- Support I am a beginner at Wikiversity. And on the first day, Dave Braunschweig gave me useful advice. I’m very grateful. He seems not only competent, but also very attentive and friendly. This is the first impression, more intuitive. I expect he will be an excellent bureaucrat. Spiritual Psychology 10:51, 17 September 2016.
- # Most or all of Dave's support above has come from those he has helped getting started here recently or mentored regarding Curatorship.
- # There seems to be some confusion on the part of several longer-time users regarding our Exemption Doctrine Policy and Fair use, especially as applied to uploaded files or images.
- # An interest by about five or six users (one of whom no longer contributes here unfortunately) regarding a Research namespace proposal as indicated in its discussion at Wikiversity talk:Research Namespace. And
- # What Dave thinks about "strongly support the need to deprecate non-standard Wikiversity pages", per user Guy vandegrift.
- Dave has been and continues to mentor me regarding IT matters and occasional Custodian matters which I deeply appreciate. I will keep an eye on the above concerns as well. I believe Dave will make an excellent bureaucrat. --Marshallsumter (discuss • contribs) 19:22, 22 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
- Support He has been very helpful with our MOOC-Interface which we used for the Web Science MOOC there he was very pragmatic and solution oriented. I cannot say anything about him in other situations. But from what I see I expect him to do an outstanding job. Especially having the german wikiversity in mind I am almost a bit jealous that awesome people like him exist here and I wish he spoke German (: -- Renepick (discuss • contribs) 09:55, 23 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
- Support I believe Dave is up for the role, and we certainly need an active bureaucrat. --Michael Billington (talk • contribs) 10:48, 24 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
