As per the journal bylaws, an editorial board member or associate editor is elected after a majority vote, counting after 7 days of voting, by the following electorate:
- Current editorial board members.
- Peer reviewers who have completed at least one peer review of WikiJournal of Medicine.
- Editors with at least 30 edits to WikiJournal of Medicine pages.
- Not an individual voting for herself/himself.
After fulfillment of the above, any current editorial board member can execute the acceptance, by copy-pasting {{subst:WikiJournal accepted board member}}
or {{subst:WikiJournal accepted associate editor}}
underneath the votes.
