Suggestions for this chapter

edit

Hello! Great book chapter, very in depth and looks like a lot of research has been done. I would suggest using hyperlinks in your page liking to relevant theories that you mention. I have done an example hyperlink in your page to show where you could possibly implement these. Hope this helps U3216389 (discusscontribs) 05:54, 13 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Heading casing

edit

Hi Lewis.Kusk. FYI, the recommended Wikiversity heading style uses sentence casing. For example:

Self-determination theory rather than Self-Determination Theory

Here's an example chapter with correct heading casing: Growth mindset development

feedback for book chapter

edit

Hi there, great job on your book chapter. It has been well developed with great research and content. One suggestion that I will make so it is easier for your reader who has further curiosity is to implement hyperlinks or external sources (footnotes) throughout your writing. This will make it easier for individuals who need to do an external reading on a concept or need a description of a major idea within your topic.

However, everything looks and reads very well and easily. Keep up the good work :) U3216563 (discusscontribs) 06:03, 16 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

General feedback

edit

Hey! great work so far you have such an interesting topic. I just noticed some formatting errors within your reference list, I would look to italicise names of journals by adding two apostrophes when source editing :) JaimeTegan (discusscontribs) 06:34, 16 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Overall

edit
  1. Overall, this is a solid chapter that makes good use of psychological theory and research to help address a practical, real-world phenomenon or problem
  2. Over the maximum word count
  3. For additional feedback, see the following comments and these copyedits
  1. Basic Overview
  2. Explains the problem or phenomenon in a basic way
  3. Consider introducing a case study or example or using an image to help engage reader interest
  4. Clear focus question(s)
  1. Relevant theories are well selected, described, and explained
  2. The workplace context for exploring the relationship between fatigue and emotion was helpful, up to a point. But also consider other everyday contexts for illustrating the relationship (e.g., parenting).
  3. Consider placing more emphasis on cognitive causes of fatigue
  4. Consider placing more emphasis on relatively straight forward interventions (e.g., use of non-directed attention, rest, sleep, exercise etc.)
  5. Build more strongly on other related chapters (e.g., by embedding links to other chapters)
  1. Appropriate depth is provided about the selected theory(ies)
  2. Key citations are well used
  3. Tables and/or lists are used effectively to help clearly convey key theoretical information
  4. Some useful examples are provided to illustrate theoretical concepts
  1. Relevant research is well reviewed
  2. Excellent use of meta-analysis. Also consider the effect sizes.
  3. Greater emphasis on the fatigue-emotion relationship would be ideal.
  1. Excellent critical thinking about relevant research is evident
  2. Claims are referenced
  1. Discussion of theory and research is well integrated
  2. Less emphasis on dealing with fatigue in general and more emphasis on the connection between fatigue and emotion would be ideal.
  1. Reasonably good summary
  2. Add practical, take-home message(s)
  1. Written expression
    1. Overall, the quality of written expression is very good
    2. Use active (e.g., "this chapter explored") rather than passive voice (e.g., "this chapter has explored") [1][2]
    3. Some sentences are overly long (e.g., the first sentence); consider splitting them into shorter, separate sentences
    4. Use 3rd person perspective (e.g., "it") rather than 1st (e.g., "we") or 2nd person (e.g., "you") perspective[3] in the main text, although 1st or 2nd person perspective can work well for case studies or feature boxes.
    5. Reduce use of weasel words which bulk out the text, but don't enhance meaning
  2. Layout
    1. The chapter is well structured, with major sections using sub-sections
  3. Grammar
    1. The grammar for some sentences could be improved (e.g., see the [grammar?] tags). Grammar-checking tools are available in most internet browsers and word processing software packages. Another option is to share draft work with peers and ask for their assistance
    2. Check and make correct use of commas
    3. Use serial commas[4] – they are part of APA style and agenerally recommended by grammaticists. See explanatory video (1 min)
    4. Check and correct use of affect vs. effect
    5. Figures
      1. This figure was uploaded without permission of the copyright owner and has been nominated for deletion: File:A Motivation Control Theory of Fatigue.png
      2. Figure captions use the correct format
      3. Refer to each Figure at least once within the main text (e.g., see Figure 1)
    6. Tables
      1. Table captions should use APA style. See example
      2. Refer to each Table at least once within the main text (e.g., see Table 1)
    7. Citations use correct APA style
    8. References are not in full APA style. For example:
      1. Check and correct use of italicisation
      2. Page numbers should be separated by an en-dash (–) rather than a hyphen (-)
  1. Overall, the use of learning features is good
  2. No use of embedded in-text interwiki links to Wikipedia articles. Adding interwiki links for the first mention of key words and technical concepts would make the text more interactive. See example.
  3. No use of embedded in-text links to related book chapters. Embedding in-text links to related book chapters helps to integrate this chapter into the broader book project.
  4. Basic use of image(s)
  5. Good use of table(s)
  6. Basic use of feature box(es)
  7. Excellent use of quiz(zes)
  8. Good use of case studies or examples. What about following up with solutions?
  9. Very good use of interwiki links in the "See also" section
  10. Basic use of external links in the "External links" section
  1. ~15 logged, useful, minor/moderate/major social contributions towards the end of semester with direct links to evidence

  3. A link to the book chapter is provided but the hyperlink isn't active to allow 1-click access
  1. Images look like clipart, but their sources should nevertheless be acknowledged
