Talk:Motivation and emotion/Book/2022/Compassion fatigue in mental health professionals
Heading casing
editHi U3055143. FYI, the recommended Wikiversity heading style uses sentence casing. For example: Self-determination theory rather than Self-Determination Theory Here's an example chapter with correct heading casing: Growth mindset development -- Jtneill - Talk - c 23:42, 26 August 2022 (UTC) |
Feedback
editHi there; I see you are still working through the chapter. You may already have it in mind but I just noticed that the image size needs to be little bit bigger and you will need in-text reference to the image. Good Luck

Compassion Fatigue
editHi,
Your book chapter is progressing nicely! You may have already planned to do this, but it may be interesting to briefly discuss the increased pressure on healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic and how this has influenced cases of compassion fatigue (e.g. have they increased, stayed the same, decreased?). Chapter feedback
editHi, Your chapter is coming along nicely. A few things to note,
- Your figures are not APA - you need to italicise the word ‘figure’ and the number.
- You could add hyperlinks to words that may not be common - e.g., traumatic distress, burnout. Even for terms that are common, providing hyperlinks makes the chapter more engaging.
- You look as if you are at the point where you can remove the ME template. Taking out the ‘suggestions for this section’ box and the learning features section will help with the layout
- Your references look good but they aren’t all in APA formatting. Make sure you change them before you submit your chapter.
Hope this helps. U3216256 (discuss • contribs) 08:44, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
Suggestions for this chapter
editHello! This topic is very similar to burnout and I did some research and within the literature there are many comparisons and analysis made between the two so I suggest maybe taking a look into this for the chapter to deepen the understanding of the topic. I have found a good article looking at both burnout and compassion fatigue which may be useful. Hope this helps! https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3662129/ U3216389 (discuss • contribs) 02:30, 13 October 2022 (UTC)

Suggestions for Resources
editHi Anna,
Just thought I'd send some interesting references your way - may be relevant (or not):
- https://content.ebscohost.com/ContentServer.asp?T=P&P=AN&K=2022-07512-001&S=L&D=pdh&EbscoContent=dGJyMMvl7ESeprE4zdnyOLCmsEqepq9Sr6y4TK%2BWxWXS&ContentCustomer=dGJyMPGptFC3qLNMuePfgeyx44Dt6fIA This is a critical review that explores the relationship between self-care and compassion fatigue. The Clinical and Workplace Implications component is brief but provides good overview of organisational strategies to mitigate compassion fatigue.
- https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/pdf/10.1080/20008198.2021.2022278?needAccess=true This is a systematic review which goes into the organisational factors contributing to compassion fatigue.
- https://scholarworks.calstate.edu/downloads/rb68xj09m. Not a peer-reviewed article so can't be used as a reference. But I found it provided an interesting overview of the self-care component to your topic, i.e., good background reading
- https://link-springer-com.ezproxy.canberra.edu.au/content/pdf/10.1007/s42843-022-00054-9.pdf. Excellent article that looks at building compassion fatigue resilience. Has some 'vignette's' that you could possibly adapt as case studies in your book chapter.
