Talk:Motivation and emotion/Book/2020/Antidepressants and motivation
Comment
editI would be interested to know the age of when antidepressants are given and if that has an effect of the motivation of the person. So if they are older would they be less motivated to take anitdepressants.— Preceding unsigned comment added by {} (talk • contribs)
Hi there! It may be interesting to discuss how SSRIs can effect people in completely different ways and how that may play into an individual's motivation. For example, how some people may experience weight gain, whereas someone else may experience low arousal. :)--U3190016 (discuss • contribs) 13:01, 30 September 2020 (UTC)
A great topic overall, however there seems to be two hormones you forgot to add details on! --Claireebousfield (discuss • contribs) 15:21, 20 October 2020 (UTC)

Some Idea's
editHi,
I suggest that you look into depression's effect on motivation and compare how antidepressants (even if they might numb people) really do help. Depression is a mental illness that really reduces motivation so looking at this relationship and comparing with and without the medication is really interesting. maybe include a graph or two to plot this. Also maybe discuss how antidepressants used to be used with bipolar depression and that effect on motivation. Good luck!

Heading casing
editFYI, the recommended Wikiversity heading style uses sentence casing. For example: Self-determination theory rather than Self-Determination Theory Here's an example chapter with correct heading casing: Growth mindset development |

- Comments on resubmitted book chapter
These revisions were considered. Overall, there were minor to moderate improvements. Changes of note:
- Focus questions are much more relevant.
- Theory
- Relevance of learned helplessness slightly better explained
- Place preference now explained
- Research
- Minor improvements to include brief summaries and citations of more relevant research. The most useful additional was a paragraph about a study about sexual preference motivation in rats when given an AD.
- Depression prevalence table added. Not useful as it doesn't address the AD-motivation relationship.
- Heading casing now corrected
- Theory capitalisation now corrected
- APA style:
- citations: et al. now used per APA 7th ed.
- Figures now referred to in main text
- Take-home messages added
- Social contributions - 26 useful, minor corrections mostly of spelling and grammar added
