Heading casing

edit

FYI, the convention on Wikiversity is for lower-cased headings (or sentence casing). For example, use:

==Cats and dogs==

rather than

==Cats and Dogs==

Topic development feedback

edit

The topic development has been reviewed according to the marking criteria. Written feedback is provided below, plus there is a general feedback page. Please also check the chapter's page history to check for editing changes made whilst reviewing the chapter plan. Responses to this feedback can be made by starting a new section below and/or contacting the reviewer. Topic development marks are available via UCLearn. Note that marks are based on what was available before the due date, whereas the comments may also be based on all material available at time of providing this feedback.

Title and sub-title

edit
  1. Accurate title
  2. A section should contain either 0 or 2+ sub-sections - avoid having sections which contain 1 sub-section.

User page

edit
  1. Created, with description about self
  2. Add link to book chapter

Social contribution

edit
  1. None summarised with links to evidence

Section headings

edit
  1. Overly complex, 3-level heading structure - could benefit from further development, perhaps using a 2-level structure.
  2. See earlier comment about Heading casing.
  3. Sections which include sub-sections should also include an overview paragraph (which doesn't need a separate heading) before branching into the sub-headings.
  4. Avoid providing too much background information (e.g., about the disorder). Instead, briefly summarise generic concepts and provide internal wiki links to further information. Then the focus of most of the content can be on directly answering the core question(s) posed by the chapter sub-title (i.e., the motivation behind FD/malingering and what can be done about it).

Key points

edit
  1. Uneven development - a lot of content in some sections and a lack of content in other sections.
  2. Appears to be planning an overly clinical/psychopathological approach, rather than a motivation theory and research approach
  3. Overview - Consider adding focus questions
  4. Include in-text interwiki links for the first mention of key terms to relevant Wikipedia articles.
  5. Consider including more examples/case studies.
  6. Consider embedding one quiz question per major section.

Image

edit
  1. Provided, with an APA style caption (except replace colon with period)
  2. Consider increasing image size from default (to make it easier to read)
  3. Cite each figure at least once in the main text.

References

edit
  1. No peer reviewed sources cited :(
  2. Use APA style, including active hyperlinks

Resources

edit
  1. See also
    1. 1 provided
  2. External links
    1. None provided

Overall

edit
  1. Overall, this is an excellent chapter that successfully uses psychological theory and research to help address a practical, real-world phenomenon or problem.
  2. This chapter is well over the maximum word count. The Overview could be abbreviated.
  3. Consider adding focus questions to the Overview.
  4. For additional feedback, see comments below and these copyedits.
  1. Relevant theories are well selected, described, and explained.
  2. There is too much general descriptive material about the disorders (leading to the chapter being over the maximum word count). Instead, summarise and link to further information, to allow this chapter to focus on the specific topic (i.e., the sub-title question).
  1. Relevant research is well reviewed and discussed in relation to theory.
  1. Written expression
    1. Overall, the quality of written expression is excellent.
    2. Avoid directional referencing (e.g., "As previously mentioned").
  2. Layout
    1. The chapter is well structured, with major sections using sub-sections.
    2. Sections which include sub-sections should also include an introductory paragraph (which doesn't need a separate heading) before branching into the sub-headings.
    3. Use internal rather than external links in "See also" for other book chapters.
    4. Add an external links section.
  3. Learning features
    1. No use of interwiki links to Wikipedia articles. Adding interwiki links for the first mention of key words would make the text more interactive.
    2. No use of embedded links to related book chapters. Embedding interwiki links links to related book chapters helps to integrate this chapter into the broader book project.
    3. Basic use of images. Some uploaded images were deleted for copyright infringement.
    4. No use of tables.
    5. Basic use of feature boxes.
    6. No use of quizzes.
    7. Excellent use of case studies or examples.
  4. Grammar
    1. Check and correct use of ownership apostrophes (e.g., individuals vs. individual's vs individuals').[1].
    2. Abbreviations
      1. Abbreviations (such as e.g., i.e.., etc.) should only be used inside parentheses.
  1. APA style
    1. Numbers under 10 should be written in words (e.g., five); numbers 10 and over should be written in numerals (e.g., 10).
    2. Direct quotes need page numbers.
    3. Figures and tables
      1. Use APA style to refer to each Table and each Figure.
    4. References are not in full APA style. For example:
      1. A mixture of referencing styles are used; adopt one and use it consistently.
      2. See new doi format.
  1. No logged social contributions
