Case Study Feedback

Hi Silvia,

That was an interesting read, thanks for asking for feedback! I hadn't considered the specific characteristics of positive psych development so was good to get an idea of how it is defined.

I liked the use of a case study but thought it could be further developed by providing some more explicit examples - such as why Michelle thought her workplace could specifically benefit (e.g. there were problems with x in the workplace), what the intervention might have involved, etc. Essentially something to provide a bit more of an illustration of what PsyCap development might look like in real life. If there was an image that would illustrate steps for implementing/using PsyCap in the workplace that might also help as well.

Hi Dot, thank you for taking the time to give me some feedback. As suggested I added a fictional case study. If you get a chance could you please have a look over the case study to see if it makes sense etc. Also, do you think i need to add a section on the outcome of the intervention? Promising case study. To develop further, perhaps consider:

• introducing the case study "problem" in the Overview, and then advancing the case study within each major section
• how the intervention might develop each of the four aspects of HERO
• impact on an individual worker
• putting the case study in a highlighted box(es)
• for other examples of case studies, maybe look through some previous chapters that have been highlighted with a yellow star (). There are also some good examples at the beginning of each chapter in the Reeve textbook.

Adding more hyperlinks to relevant words in your chapter, 2. Changing the first letter of the words after a dot point to capitals, 3. APA style for direct quotes

Note that APA style for direct quotes is to include page numbers, including for the first quote. Also note that direct quotes are probably over-used in this chapter. Overall Overall, this chapter provides a very good overview of PsyCap. For additional feedback, see comments below and these copyedits. Theory Relevant theories are well selected, described, and explained. Perhaps there could be more indepth consideration of the HERO elements and how they might work together as a whole. Research Relevant research is well reviewed and discussed in relation to theory. Written expression Written expression is very good. The chapter benefited from a well developed Overview and Conclusion, with clear focus question(s) and take-home messages. Layout Sections which include sub-sections should also include an introductory paragraph (which doesn't need a separate heading) before branching into the sub-headings. The chapter is well structured, with major sections using sub-sections. Learning features Interwiki links are well used. Basic use of images (some could be larger). There only appear to be 2 images (3 are listed). No use of tables. Good use of feature boxes. Basic use of quizzes. Very good use of case studies or examples. Spelling, grammar, and proofreading. Use serial commas. APA style Refer to each Table and each Figure at least once within the main text. Provide more detailed Figure captions to help connect the figure to the text. Citations A serial comma is needed before "&" or "and" for citations involving three or more authors. Use ampersand (&) inside brackets and "and" outside brackets. References are not in full APA style e.g., Check and make correct use of italicisation. Do not include issue numbers for journals which are continuously numbered within volumes.

Overall Overall, this is an excellent presentation that makes effective use of simple tools. Structure and content Well selected and structured content - not too much or too little. The presentation is well structured (Title, Overview, Body, Conclusion). A Conclusion slide is presented with a take-home message(s). The presentation could be strengthened by adding a Conclusion slide with practical, take-home messages. Communication The presentation is fun, easy to follow, and interesting to watch and listen to. The presentation makes effective use of text and image based slides with narrated audio. Well paced. Excellent pauses between sentences. This helps the viewer to cognitively digest the information that has just been presented before moving on to the next point. The font size is sufficiently large to make it easy to read in the time provided. The visual communication is effectively supplemented by images. Production quality The full chapter title and sub-title are used in the video title - this helps to clearly convey the purpose of the presentation.
