Subtitle

I recommend subtitles for all chapters. e.g., "Emotional intelligence - What is it? Do you have it? How can it be developed?". The subtitle can be changed. Thinking about this and my comment below re focus questions - I'd suggest perhaps taking the current subtitle and using these as the focus questions (modify as appropriate) for the chapter. Hi Ray. Looking great. Just before Callista goes off line 2.1 should read Emotionally Intelligent, 2.1 should read upper case E in emotional. Second line of intro should probably read "...slackening off of..." I haven't had a chance to look at the rest in any detail, but I really like the drop down sections. Hi Ray. Page looks good and I like the scenarios. I felt a little lost though, reading the scenarios 'first off'. Maybe consider a small intro announcing what the chapter is about ie. emotional intelligence, to more clearly indicate to reader the point of the scenarios, theory etc is. Hi Ray. The page is looking good. I like the intro's to the different models. If you wanted you could include more on how Bar Ons model is based on traits and that Salovey's model is based more on branches of abilities and how this may differ. Also to add to a comment before, certain jobs may require may more EI than others and that specific traits/abilities are required in these jobs. (Benk 05:19, 22 October 2011 (UTC))

Hey Ray. I got a chance to look at those drop boxes in a bit more detail. I think that what you have done there is, really, very good. Hi Ray! In response to your moodle post I've had a read through your chapter and think it's great! I have gone through and fixed up some little typos for you (I hope you don't mind - you can always undo them in your 'view history' tab if need be). Most (if not all) were just instances where there was no space between bracket and the next word. My only other comments/suggestions would be to make the picture under 'Is emotional intelligence really intelligence?' bigger as I can't read it at the moment, and also maybe you could change the colour of the drop down boxes. The dark purple is a really nice colour but I found it a bit much on the eyes and had to focus to read the black writing. There is a link to all the colours available on the moodle page. Hi Ray, I like your page. The links are great with nice reference to other book chapters. I like the link to the intelligence questionaire and I wonder if you could put something more that relates that back to the individual - what they can do or how the quiz results may help to improve/change their emotional intelligence? Hi Ray. I have had a read of your page. I'm really liking the content on the Melrose school and the content under "is emotional intelligence really intelligence?". The meta-analyses you have used show there is a lot of empirical evidence out there to support EI as a tangible construct. Maybe have a think about some good "take home points" would be my suggestion for the summary. I do like the logical flow of the content from history through to what can we do today to improve our EI. Introduction

I gave the structure for the Introduction a tweak. The scenario is helpful, but I think we need a stronger introduction giving the reader a quick overview of what this chapter is about before diving into the scenario. There is a great emphasis in the chapter on practical questions, so make the most of this by introducing these problems and the concept of EI in the Introduction. Theory Theory comments The theoretical evolution is thoroughly discussed. The boxes and point summary of each dimension demonstrate good style and assist in facilitating understanding of these theoretical constructs. Research Research comments Exhaustive list of references! Fantastic to see the inclusion of meta-analysis research and the actual statistics such studies provide in support of EI training programs as well as critical analysis of the limitations of EI. The Schutte Assessing Emotions Scale could perhaps be included in the discussion of the various EI scales. This chapter provides a comprehensive discussion on EI and research that shows it can be modified, along with tools for self-assessment. But how can an individual interested in improving their EI achieve this outcome? The conclusion seems to suggest this will become more evident as EI research progresses. Written expression Written expression comments The conversational style is engaging and well executed, but try to avoid contractions in formal APA style. In the introduction, three and then four main streams of EI research are mentioned. The hypothetical scenario expertly demonstrates the different managerial styles associated with EI, personalising and contextualising the topic for readers. The title, “Can you learn to be emotional intelligent” could be rephrased as “emotionally intelligent”. Some words appear to be accidentally omitted or extraneous (“validity can be ruled because”; “this chapter will critically examine the concept as whole”; “based on more on mass media”). The chapter is well-presented and structured, incorporating multiple design features that enhance the page.

Overall Wow - this is a brilliant multimedia presentation. It shows a consummate introductory understanding of the topic (perfect for the target audience) in a balanced, informative, creative way. It is quite memorable. Bell curve image

The image at http://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/File:Bell_curve_and_IQ.jpg seems misplaced and of dubious accuracy and, i believe, should be removed from this page. - it does not relate to the paragraph it is attached to- it is about IQ, not emotional inteligence - it's claims about driving, SAT scores, poverty, years in school etc are not sourced, and look questionable to me. If such claims are made, they should be backed up by reliable sources. I have written these comments also in the abovelinked image source page.
