The HGAPS Assessment Center was created by the UNC-Chapel Hill chapter of Helping Give Away Psychological Science in collaboration with the Society for Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology (SCCAP), The North Carolina Psychological Association (NCPA), Division 5 of the American Psychological Association, and Division 12 Section 9 of the American Psychological Association, as well as clinical psychologists at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Department of Psychology consulted on the creation of the Assessment Center. The Assessment Center consists of both a version for the general public and for clinicians.

EBA clinicians' manual
We are working to build a step-by-step evidence-based assessment manual that clinicians can follow along, with built-in examples. This is our effort to manualize the teaching and application of EBA principles. It's like an EBA textbook!
There are four discrete assessment phases of evidence-based assessment. Here is an overview, so please visit this page to learn more!
- Preparation phase: Planning and benchmarking.
- Prediction phase: Evaluate risk and probabilities while gathering cross-informant perspectives.
- Prescription phase: Assess and plan treatments and goals.
- Process phase: Monitor goals and progress, set up lasting skills.
Assessment portfolios
This is a collection of toolkits that pull together high-quality information and resources for evidence-based assessment. The goal is to make the material easy for clinicians to find and use.
Clinical vignettes
Our vignettes are examples of applying evidence-based assessment techniques to cases. The names and some details have been changed to protect confidentiality, but the vignettes are all based on real people unless otherwise noted. We cover cases of MDD, bipolar I and II, cyclothymia, ADHD, bullying, PTSD, and substance use.

Research
editOpen Teaching of Psychological Science (OToPS)
OToPS is a site that pulls together resources for teaching Psychology. It is open-source, intended to be shared. Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) workshop series
The Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) party is our attempt to teach receiver operating characteristic methods and analyses, in an attempt to make research more clinically relevant. Visit this page to view our past ROC parties and to see a framework for running ROC analyses.
HGAPS works to help connect those in need with mental health resources and information. In response to a variety of crises (hurricanes, large fires, school shootings, and mass violence), HGAPS has disseminated resources in the form of Wikiversity pages and infographics over social media and the internet at large, and to communities directly. HGAPS also has resources to help individuals in crisis to find a therapist.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, HGAPS has coordinated resources in an effort to provide targeted help for COVID-related issues. Below is a table of the efforts.

If you're a teen (or work with teens) looking for resources on mental health concerns, you've come to the right place! We have compiled resources for a wide range of concerns, included in the table below.
HGAPS has created multiple infographics, graphically presenting information on a wide variety of topics including bullying and cyberbullying, resources for coping with mental health difficulties, self-care after traumatic events, guidelines to seeking professional help, and more. Our infographics are currently stored through OSF.
