Set and forget Moodle with RSS

Perhaps my heavy use of RSS into Moodle would be worth a mention. Set up Moodle with feeds, then forget it and continue working in the open: http://learnonline.canberra.edu.au/course/view.php?id=3394 that example is not an active teaching unit, but with a few added things like more prescribed assignments and activities, I don't see why it couldn't be a model... Alternatives to Moodle

For the Dutch wikiversity, I'm talking to someone from www.khanacademie.nl. Is it smart to explore this platform? The people of www.khanacademie.nl are also thinking about open content. Is it possbile to experiment with moodle? I'm not very technical so setting up a Moodle environment is propably something I'm not capable off.

Hi Tim, If your learning institution doesn't have its own learning management system (LMS), then partnering with an online LMS provider could be a good option. I'm interested to learn more about what functionality Khan Academy can provide. The Wikimedia Foundation sister projects provide a good, open platform for learning content. But they don't provide good mechanisms for tracking enrolled participants and for providing private assessment submission and grades etc. Hence the need also for an LMS. Moodle does require technical capacity to install, manage, modify, etc. Your thoughts? -- Jtneill - Talk - c 01:06, 16 April 2013 (UTC)

I had a quick look at Khan Academy - it seems to be video-based? What are the key features/functions it offers that you want to use?
