I recently read a book on mindfulness that was really quite interesting. It was written by a Vietnamese monk named Thich Nhat Hanh. If you search his name you might find some really interesting insights and examples of applying mindfulness to every day tasks to achieve flow. --U3099598 (discusscontribs) 05:01, 29 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

This is really interesting! :) to make in interactive do you reckon it would be a good idea to include video/audio of mindfulness techniques? --U3097076

There are some great graphs that display the optimal relationship between arousal and efficacy. Could be a good visual aid for your chapter. --U3151994

Hi, I have recently been interested in this article about flow and clutch states in sport. It would be really useful to have it as an example, case study or even just a paragraph on what a clutch state is. "Swann, C., Crust, L., & Vella, S. A. (2017). New directions in the psychology of optimal performance in sport: flow and clutch states. Current opinion in psychology, 16, 48-53." Also, your references are not in APA format and I also struggled with this. There is a template you can add into the reference section called "hanging indent" which will help clean them up. All the best, Chantelle --Chantellej 12 (discusscontribs) 03:49, 24 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Heading casing

edit

FYI, the convention on Wikiversity is for lower-cased headings. For example, use:

==Cats and dogs==

rather than

==Cats and Dogs==

Title, sub-title, TOC

  1. OK

User page

edit
  1. Excellent

Social contribution

edit
  1. Useful edits
  2. Links don't go directly to evidence of contributions
  3. See suggestions for how to record social contributions

Section headings

edit
  1. Avoid having sections with only one subsection - either have no subsections or two or more subsections
  2. Logical, 2-level structure, but keep the "What is ...?" sections to a minimum or just integrate/embed with the Overview or subsequent sections. The topic is about the relationship, not the stand-alone concepts. So briefly summarise the separate concepts, with links to Wikiversity/Wikipedia articles with more details. Then concentrate the bulk of the chapter on exploring their relationship, based on theory and research, with examples.

Key points

edit
  1. Very well developed.
  2. Overview - Consider introducing a case study or example(s)

Image

edit
  1. Good
  2. Include APA style figure captions

References

edit
  1. Good
  2. Use APA style
  3. For latest APA style recommended format for dois see http://blog.apastyle.org/apastyle/2017/03/doi-display-guidelines-update-march-2017.html
  4. Decide which referencing system to use - currently there are the manual APA style references and then there are the wiki references - use one system only

Resources

edit
  1. See also - Good
  2. External links - these probably should be in the References section

Feedback on Quiz questions

edit

Hi I'm enjoying the development of your topic on mindfulness and flow!! For your quiz, I thought it might be worth linking some of the questions to the topics as they are discussed (e.g. benefits of work and study, etc.) This could help reinforce concepts and points made within the sections they are included; and also break up large sections of just words and reading

Hope this feedback is helpful!!

Hey there, your chapter looks like its coming along well, I look forward to reading it. I recommend you add a caption, that are consistent with the APA style, to your images explaining what they are showing, here is a link which might help http://libguides.unitec.ac.nz/apareferencing/images-tables-figures I hope this helps! --Brittany (u3117719) (discusscontribs) 05:53, 20 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Overall

edit
  1. Overall, this chapter demonstrates a good theoretical and practical understanding of mindfulness and flow as separate concepts and their relationship.
  2. The main problem with this chapter is that there is relatively too much material about mindfulness and flow as separate concepts and too little about their relationship (which should be the primary focus).
  3. For additional feedback, see comments below and these copyedits.
  1. Relevant theories are well described and explained.
  2. Use peer-reviewed citations.
  3. Excellent use of examples.
  1. Relevant research is well integrated with theory.
  2. Reporting of more research about the relationship between the two target constructs would be ideal.
  3. When describing important research findings, indicate the size of effects in addition to whether or not there was an effect or relationship.
  1. Written expression is generally very good and targeted towards a lay audience.
    1. Avoid one sentence paragraphs. A paragraph should typically consist of three to five sentences.
    2. Some of the bullet-points should have been in full paragraph format.
    3. Avoid directional referencing (e.g., "As previously mentioned").
    4. The chapter benefited from a well developed Overview and Conclusion.
  2. Layout
    1. See earlier comments about heading casing.
  3. Learning features
    1. Some Interwiki links are used; more could be added.
    2. Basic use of images.
    3. Very good use of tables.
    4. Good use of quizzes.
    5. Very good use of examples/case studies.
  4. Spelling, grammar, and proofreading.
    1. Check and correct use of commas.
    2. Use serial commas.
    3. Check and correct use of ownership apostrophes (e.g., individuals vs. individual's).
  5. APA style
    1. Use APA style for Figure captions - provide descriptive text that connects the image to key points in the main body.
    2. Direct quotes need page numbers.
    3. Use APA style for Table captions.
    4. Refer to each Table and each Figure at least once within the main text.
    5. Citations
      1. Only peer-reviewed academic sources should be used as citations; other resources belong in "External links".
    6. References
      1. References use a mixture of wiki-style and APA style - use one approach or another, but not both. Regarding APA style:
      2. Check and correct capitalisation.
      3. Do not include issue numbers for journals which are continuously numbered within volumes.

If you would like further clarification about the marking or feedback, contact the unit convener.

Overall

edit
  1. Overall, this is a very good presentation.
  2. Autoplay would be preferable - if not possible in Prezi, then record a screencast and publish to youtube.
  1. Many of the comments about the book chapter also apply to this section (i.e., good understanding of separate concepts, but focus more on the relationship).
  2. Well selected and structured content - not too much or too little.
  3. The presentation is well structured (Title, Overview, Body, Conclusion).
  4. Use the same title and sub-title as the book chapter.
  1. The presentation is easy to follow, and interesting to watch and listen to.
  2. Perhaps more examples could be used.
  3. The presentation makes reasonably effective use of narrated text and Prezi animation; images could also be added.
  4. Well paced.
  5. The font size is sufficiently large to make it easy to read in the time provided.
  6. Some of the font size should be larger to make it easier to read.
  7. Pronunciation - should be "chick-sent-me-high"
  1. Audio recording quality is a bit "crackly" - check microphone set up.
  2. Visual presentation is clear and easy to follow.
  3. A copyright license for the presentation is provided.
  4. A link to and from the book chapter is provided.
