Talk:Motivation and emotion/Book/2018/Goal sharing and goal pursuit
Layout Suggestion
editHi, This topic is really seems really interesting, just letting you know that you could possibly use collapse boxes with some of your sections. As this just provides a more neater look to the page to make it less cluttered. You may want to use this on the studies of the 'low down' section.

editHi Kunalǃ I've just fixed up the captions to your images. Great case study, very relatableǃ --Caroline Gangotena (discuss • contribs) 11:29, 21 October 2018 (UTC)
Hey! This might be an interesting TED talk for you to listen to https://www.ted.com/talks/derek_sivers_keep_your_goals_to_yourself --U3158984 (discuss • contribs) 23:01, 1 September 2018 (UTC)
This study might also be interesting for you, I have linked it in your reference list too http://web.b.ebscohost.com.ezproxy.canberra.edu.au/ehost/pdfviewer/pdfviewer?vid=1&sid=03b97fb9-c829-4213-a190-f6a571bc0d7f%40sessionmgr104 If the link doesn't work, the article is called Making SMART goals smarter --U3158984 (discuss • contribs) 22:13, 7 October 2018 (UTC)
Hi, I am also doing a topic on goal setting and thought you might like this reference from Locke and Latham as a starter reference. It notes the mechanisms behind but probably more relevant for you is the satisfaction section which would relate to the motives of goal sharing. "Locke, E. A., & Latham, G. P. (2002). Building a practically useful theory of goal setting and task motivation: A 35-year odyssey. American psychologist, 57(9), 705." It would be interesting to see information about the link between sharing a goal, attaining the goal and the neurotransmitter response (such a dopamine). Good luck, Chantelle (u3141099). --Chantellej 12 (discuss • contribs) 06:00, 10 October 2018 (UTC)
Loving the "picture this" scenario for your overview, maybe this could be put into a feature box? Also, remember to use APA formatting for all images (i.e Figure 1). This looks like an interesting topic and I am excited to see the end result. Keep up the good work. --Abbsu3163507 (discuss • contribs) 02:04, 17 October 2018 (UTC)
Suggestion
editI can't wait to see the final product of this chapter. Just a suggestion for your 'picture this' box - it is a great example, you just have 'no me' written when it should be 'new me'. Also consider closing the box after the scenario, and explain the theory etc underneath. Keep going, you're doing great!--Lauren.ianson (discuss • contribs) 06:04, 19 October 2018 (UTC)
Feedback on work so far
editHere's some suggestions about work so far on this chapter:
- The most important content added so far is the three dot points in the section "How does sharing one's goals with others affect goal pursuit?" - expanding on these and related points, covering theory, research, and with practical applications or examples etc. could make for a reasonable chapter
- The content in the "Theories" sections look to be less relevant, unless the intention is to relate the these theories to the specific topic for the chapter
- The content in "Best ways to set goals" looks less relevant as well - probably better to contribute this content to the Motivation and emotion/Book/2018/Goal setting techniques chapter unless the intention is to shape this section to the current chapter's specific focus
- The most important sections will be the Overview and Conclusion, so consider prioritising their development
- Consider possible of use of interwiki links, images, tables, quiz, examples/case studies etc.
- References - Use APA style
Hope this helps. Feel free to follow anything help. Sincerely, James -- Jtneill - Talk - c 06:20, 11 October 2018 (UTC)
