Hey, I really found it very informative and interesting as I have a keen interest in exercise, and just for the record I have strong intrinsic traits and love new experiences surprise surprise! Furthermore, I really like the way you have formatted and structured it. Specifically going through each segment thoroughly before moving on to the next, for example: Intrinsic/extrinsic motivation and it's influences, before moving onto a more thorough look at arguably the 2 most influential personality models. Overall a really enjoyable and easy to read paper with a lot of informative and well linked information. Regards, Oliver Tandl u3152154

Hiya, I like how much you've put into the layout and formatting of the page, it looks really professional so far. I was thinking that the section of definitions seems mostly unnecessary except for the personality part. Differentiating between the views on personality before you jump into the theories is cool and makes a lot of sense, but it doesn't seem necessary to define physical exercise or motivation unless you think that is really crucial. Maybe if you finish and are hitting the word limit them cut those down or cut them out? Just a suggestion, otherwise the chapter seems really great!

Hey, so I was thinking that perhaps you shouldn't use the psychoanalytic and humanistic approaches, and instead focus on trait theory because your title focuses on personality traits rather than personality in general.--CeeJay95 (discusscontribs) 00:12, 5 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

@CeeJay95: Thanks for your suggestion! I wasn't sure whether those perspectives were needed and was considering removing them, so now I will :). U3100368 (discusscontribs) 01:33, 5 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi, my book chapter is Vocational Motivation and Personality so I thought that it would be helpful if we contributed to each others chapters. You have made a great start with the headings and points you have added so far. I have added some sentences and ideas for you to consider expanding on as well as a few images. I hope you find them helpful but ok if you decide not to use them as they are just suggestions. You might want to consider adding a link to a personality and exercise quiz. Some examples are: http://the8colorsoffitness.com/ http://www.besthealthmag.ca/best-you/fitness/quiz-whats-your-fitness-personality/ https://www.verywell.com/whats-your-fitness-personality-3742235

Here is a link to two interesting article that could give you some ideas and additional resources (although not an academic article). https://experiencelife.com/article/your-fitness-personality/ https://www.16personalities.com/articles/personality-types-and-personal-fitness

You could also consider including some block quotes on your page to highlight your points and provide a good way to break up content. Here's one example: “Research suggests that people who engage in personality-appropriate activities will stick with the activities longer, enjoy their workout more and ultimately have a greater overall fitness experience” Susan Davis-Ali, PhD.

I just found another article that might be of use to you, particularly your section on self-determination theory. https://selfdeterminationtheory.org/SDT/documents/2009_RyanWilliamsPatrickDeci_HJOP.pdf --BecNorton (discusscontribs) 10:19, 8 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

In past units I have done on exercise motivation, this article has been helpful. Specifically on adherence to an exercise program. http://s3.amazonaws.com/academia.edu.documents/42747113/Self-motivation_and_adherence_to_therape20160216-18515-1h9b8zo.pdf?AWSAccessKeyId=AKIAJ56TQJRTWSMTNPEA&Expires=1475961417&Signature=s6GHSuf8k7w%2BFwNZa6pCjBl3nF8%3D&response-content-disposition=inline%3B%20filename%3DSelf-motivation_and_adherence_to_therape.pdf--U3090066 (discusscontribs) 20:18, 8 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Bullet-points

edit

I recommend bullet-pointing the items listed in See also and External links. -- Jtneill - Talk - c 07:20, 21 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Focus on answering the question

edit

The structure makes logical sense, but I recommend keeping preliminary sections to a minimum - the answer to the question, which is what the reader is interested in, is contained in section 5 - that is the single most important section, so make sure it gets the most detail/airtime. -- Jtneill - Talk - c 21:03, 21 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Overall

edit
  1. Wow - love this chapter.
  2. For more feedback see [ these copyedits] and the comments below.
  1. Motivational theory is well covered and integrated with the topic and research.
  2. The Reeve (2015) textbook is over-used as a citation; preferably consult and cite primary, peer-reviewed sources.
  3. Abbreviate the general theoretical material and provide references and links to further information. This would allow more space to apply the theories to the specific topic in more detail.
  4. Addition of case studies or additional examples could be helpful.
  1. Research is well considered and integrated with theory.
  2. When describing important research studies, provide some indication of the nature of the method.
  3. When discussing important research findings, indicate the size of effects in addition to whether or not there was an effect or relationship.
  1. Written expression is excellent.
    1. Write for an international, not just an Australian, audience (e.g., change opening sentence so that it reflects international data).
    2. The Overview and Conclusion are clear and well-written.
  2. The chapter is well presented and structured.
  3. Learning features
    1. The chapter makes excellent use of interwiki links to other book chapters and to relevant Wikipedia articles.
    2. Boxes, figures, and quizzes are effectively used.
  4. Spelling and grammar are excellent.
  5. APA style is excellent.
    1. The APA style for the reference list is very good; remove issue numbers for paginated journals.
