Heading casing

edit

FYI, the convention on Wikiversity is for lower-cased headings. For example, use:

==Cats and dogs==

rather than

==Cats and Dogs==

Page Discussion

edit

Hello. I like the simple layout of your page, it is coming together really well. One thing I noticed was the statement "incidences where paramedics have been needed has doubled since 2012-2013", I have heard of an increase in alcohol related incidences where paramedics need to respond, although generally if someone uses to much cannabis they eat to much junk food and fall asleep. The statistics on cannabis related injuries I don't believe exists. If you talked about an increase in those suffering from drug psychosis, this may be more relevant with the increase of THC in cannabis in recent times, at the expense of the natural anti-psychotics that were contained in the natural plant. Also some may use cannabis to self-medicate in the case of depression and then give it up later when thing in their life change. This in no way is condoning cannabis use as many of the effects are still being determined, especially when used by adolescents where significant neurological changes are happening. Great chapter so far though. David James Stevenson (discusscontribs) 22:41, 20 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi! Interesting topic! I thought perhaps you might want to include the certain brain structures that are responsible for negative emotions, and what parts of the brain are being effected most in terms of the deficits you have mentioned as a result of cannabis use. Also, don't forget to reference your images in APA format with figure 1 etc. U3100230 (discusscontribs) 09:08, 21 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Overall

edit
  1. Overall, this is a reasonable chapter which could be improved by a more disciplined focus on addressing the question. For example, the question is about negative emotions, but positive effects are also covered - remove and refocus. Link to related Wikipedia articles and/or book chapters for info about positive effects. Also, there is no need to look into details about what cannabis is etc. - summarise this briefly and link to relevant Wikipedia articles.
  2. For more feedback see these copyedits and the comments below.
  1. Theory about how/why and what negative emotion effects of Cannabis isn't really covered - the best material in this sense is about anxiety, but psychosis, depression, and paranoia are not emotions.
  2. Consider adding more examples.
  1. Research is well described. Focus more attention on research most directly related to the central question.
  2. Some statements were unreferenced (e.g., see the [factual?] tags)
  3. When discussing important research findings, indicate the size of effects in addition to whether or not there was an effect or relationship.
  1. Written expression was reasonably good, but needs more work to be of a professional standard.
    1. Avoid one sentence paragraphs. A paragraph should typically consist of three to five sentences.
  2. Layout
    1. See earlier comments about heading casing
  3. Learning features
    1. Interwiki links could be added (e.g., to relevant Wikipedia articles and other Wikiversity book chapters) to make the text more interactive.
    2. Some links to Wikipedia and/or Wikiversity articles were added as external links - these should be changed to interwiki links
    3. Some links to Wikipedia and/or Wikiversity articles were added - these only need to be added on first mention of a keyword; use plain text for the keyword subsequently.
    4. The chapter provides an excellent range of relevant links to other Wikiversity pages.
    5. Quiz questions are used effectively to encourage reader engagement.
    6. Quiz questions could be used to encourage reader engagement.
  4. Grammar and proofreading
    1. Check and correct the use of ownership apostrophes (e.g., individuals vs. individual's vs. individuals').
    2. The grammar of some sentences could be improved (e.g., see the [grammar?] tags).
  5. APA style
    1. Check and correct the APA style for how to report numbers (Numbers under 10 should be written in words (e.g., five); numbers 10 and over should be written in numbers (e.g., 10)).
    2. Add APA style captions to tables and figures.
    3. Check and correct the APA style formatting of in-text citations (e.g., et al.).
    4. The reference list is not in full APA style.

Overall

edit
  1. Overall, this is a basic presentation which doesn't seem to address the topic - what are the effects of cannabis on negative emotions?
  1. The content doesn't address the question about the effects of cannabis use on negative emotions.
  2. A conclusion slide summarising the take-home messages could be helpful.
  1. Background images made the text difficult to read.
  1. Rename the title so that it is more descriptive and meaningful than "Recording #1".
  2. Fill out the description field (e.g., brief description of presentation, link back to the book chapter, license details, and possibly include references and image attributions).
  3. The copyright licenses and sources for the images used is not indicated - there may have been copyright violation unless you own the copyright to the images used or these were public domain images.
  4. A copyright license for the presentation is not indicated (i.e., in the description or in the presentation slides).
  5. No link is provided back to the book chapter.
