Talk:Motivation and emotion/Book/2014/Quit smoking cigarettes motivation
Comments
editHey, Im really interested in seeing the finished product of this chapter as I think motivation is the only way to quit smoking! Some ideas: Look at intrinsic and extrinsic motivations - Curry, S., Wagner, E. H., & Grothaus, L. C. (1990). Intrinsic and extrinsic motivation for smoking cessation. Journal Of Consulting And Clinical Psychology, 58(3), 310-316. doi:10.1037/0022-006X.58.3.310
Autonomous motivations: Williams, G. G., Gagné, M., Ryan, R. M., & Deci, E. L. (2002). Facilitating autonomous motivation for smoking cessation. Health Psychology, 21(1), 40-50. doi:10.1037/0278-6133.21.1.40
Brief motivational interview: Colby, S. M., Monti, P. M., Barnett, N. P., Rohsenow, D. J., Weissman, K., Spirito, A., & ... Lewander, W. J. (1998). Brief motivational interviewing in a hospital setting for adolescent smoking: A preliminary study. Journal Of Consulting And Clinical Psychology, 66(3), 574-578. doi:10.1037/0022-006X.66.3.574
Motivational advice: Carpenter, M. J., Hughes, J. R., Solomon, L. J., & Callas, P. W. (2004). Both Smoking Reduction With Nicotine Replacement Therapy and Motivational Advice Increase Future Cessation Among Smokers Unmotivated to Quit. Journal Of Consulting And Clinical Psychology, 72(3), 371-381. doi:10.1037/0022-006X.72.3.371
Anyway hope this provides you with a good starting place! Perhaps even look at Theory of Planned behaviour as well! -all articles cited are available on google scholar through UC
Good luck!

personal experience
editHey I just thought that I would share my personal experience with quitting smoking, the only reason I believe I successfully quit was due to the motivation of having more money to get more tattoos I had tried to quit before but I had no motivation to do so and was not successful, it would probably be a god idea to also briefly look at the emotional side of quitting smoking and what affect it has, good luck with your chapter K.kauhanen (discuss • contribs) 12:45, 24 October 2014 (UTC)
Dopamine
editHi! Im doing a similar topic in motivation and dopamine, if you would like some more information on addictive personalities and dopamine i have a section in my page about the basics of this. A small section on structure of dopamine and function i feel would tie in well. Otherwise good read!
Heading casing
editFYI, the convention on Wikiversity is for lower-cased headings. For example, use:
==Cats and dogs== |
