Hey, I really like your topic and am excited to see where you go with this! I noticed that you don't yet have subtopics on Compassion vs. Empathy and thought perhaps for one of your sections you could look into how empathy and compassion differ in terms of spirituality as compassion is viewed as more spiritual than empathy. I have found an article on compassion and spirituality which may be useful if you do look into something like this. I'm not sure if the link will work but here is the article reference: 'Brown, C. Perhaps to improve the flow of your writing, you should consider breaking up the many long paragraphs you have written. It is recommended that you should have between three to five sentences per paragraph. Hi Becky,

This topic is really interesting and I feel that you have done so much work regarding your chapter. Here are some of my comments:

Since your topic is: similarities and differences between compassion and empathy, I feel that you could structure your chapter surrounding this. So far, I have not seen a part devoting to the similarities. Even if there are not many research on this, you can write this part with the knowledge you already have.

for example, what is compassion, the importance of it--> what is empathy, the importance of it--> what are the similarities: concerns for others, prosocial behaviour, they are both for human connections; are they related in neurobiologial ways? (I ask this because I can see you know quite a bit about the neuromechanisms of both); are they related from evolutionary point of view (we help each other to survive)?; Are they related in social applications (such as counselling, volunteering, reconciliation). With reconciliation alone, you have so much to talk about. For example, is empathy and compassion the emotional foundation for reconciliation? Mention indigenous issues, middle east issues. I came across this study: Giving peace a chance: Oxytocin increases empathy to pain in the context of the Israeli—Palestinian conflict.

Your table of contents looks really good. I change what I said earlier now. You have a special heading comparing compassion and empathy, in that framework, you have enough space to cover both the similarities and differences. The similarities and differences don't have to be 50/50, as long as you touch both, it should be fine. Overall, this is a good attempt at a creative piece of work. The structure and communication require improvement.

The flow between ideas is logical. The structure is not completely clear. Research is touched on, but could have been more of a focus. Theory is not adequately addressed. The presentation lacks academic quality.

Communication is an area for improvement. The voice-over is quite fluently delivered, however limited expression is used. The choice to include very limited text, along with infrequent activity in the animation, makes the presentation less engaging and difficult to follow. The ideas being presented verbally are not directly re-enforced with the visual.

Basic animation is used in this presentation. The presentation lacks a professional feel, largely as a result of the style chosen. The audio quality is good, although perhaps slightly too quiet. The visuals are clear, but the animation lacks activity. The presentation exceeded the 5 minute time limit. A link to the book chapter is provided.
