Talk:Motivation and emotion/Book/2013/Organ donation

editHi, I was reading this article and remembered someone was doing organ donation.
Although this article is sad (and a little gruesome), it does give mention to the lack of organ donation in China and the ramifications.

Hi Ange, I have checked in on your writing, specifically because I was interested in the topic for another unit I'm working on. It's great and interesting but may I also ask how you plan to relate it back to self-help? Any ideas?Sammarris (discuss • contribs) 02:37, 23 October 2013 (UTC)
Hi there! What a great topic!! I found this article that seems quite interesting and thought I would share it :) The article name is "Anticipated regret and organ donor registration—A pilot study." and found it on PsychARTICLES. It's all about the idea of imagined regret effecting our decision to be an organ donor. Hope it helps! EmmaP (discuss • contribs) 15:45, 23 October 2013 (UTC)
Hi Ange! I noticed you left a comment on my page, so just wanted to say thank you! I think organ donation and intrinsic motivation (my topic) probably share a connection, however strong that connection may be. I'd be interested if you find any research supporting this :) Here is an article you may find helpful: http://elsa.berkeley.edu/users/webfac/held/delmonico.pdf - it's about the ethical motivation re: organ donation. I'm not sure if the article I've linked touches on altruism, but I noticed you haven't got a title for altruism on your page yet, so it's another piece of food for thought, anyway! Hi there
I noticed your post about linking your topic to self help, this may be of assistance or not.....There was an article in the Daily Telegraph 29/10 about a liitle girl aged 6 who was killed on the weekend when a kangaroo hit the family vehicle, the family donated her organs. Her parents spoke of finding comfort in this knowing that her death had saved the lives of others, they also reflected on reciprocation, in that if the cirrcumstances were turned and their daughter had needed help of this nature (an organ donation) that someone else would do the same for her . Perhaps the self help aspect of organ donation is also relative to family members who can find comfort knowing that a loved ones death was not entirely in vain, which may help in the grieving process.

Hey Ange, Your chapter is looking awesome, love the picture of the beating heart. Anyway just wanted to thank you for your contribution to my chapter, the article you suggested really helped. I was also wondering if I could link your page to mine as our topics are somewhat related? Bilbo Baggins (discuss • contribs) 05:30, 2 November 2013 (UTC)
Hey Ange! Good luck with your chapter. I know it's probably a bit last-minute, but I found something that has heaps of info regarding the psychology of organ donation! I hope it helps in any way, shape or form! http://books.google.com.au/books?id=dgaWPc1NYnIC&printsec=frontcover&dq=organ+donation+and+psychology&hl=en&sa=X&ei=ccJ1Ur-xEojZkAX00oCgCQ&ved=0CDAQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q=organ%20donation%20and%20psychology&f=false
All the best!

Heading casing
editFYI, the convention on Wikiversity is for lower-cased headings. For example, use:
==Cats and dogs== |

OveralleditFantastic effort for a fascinating topic. The chapter had good exploration of theories involving why people do or don’t donate, good work! For future improvement, try to engage in a little more critical analysis of the theories, this was present in the TPB section and was excellent to see. There was certainly some interesting research and the chapter made good use of statistics, this provided a lot of context. To improve in the future, the chapter needs to include critical analysis of the research cited. It would also benefit the chapter to spend a little more time on the conclusion draw from the research. The chapter mentions knowledge and discussion as primary ways of overcoming the barrier, but some further expansion would have been lovely. Great work! The expression was mainly clear, however there were some grammatical issues, I recommend a thorough edit before submission. Good balance of academic and self help language! The headings were correct and the flow of the paragraphs worked well. I thought your learning features were fantastic, though I took the altruism quiz and was a little confused by it! Great pictures and in text links. I would recommend refreshing knowledge on APA style – there were some and/& errors in the in text citations, and remember DOI’s or web addresses for every reference. OveralleditOverall, a great presentation. See comments below for feedback The presentation had a logical flow and covered the key points of the chapter. I liked the balance of theory, self help and informative statistics. For future improvement, try and include some more of the research from the chapter The presentation was well paced and easy to follow, well done. I liked the images included. For future improvement, try and include several more pages so as to enlarge the print of the references. The quality of the production was good and the voiceover was clear. The presentation made effective use of basic tools, Great effort! Courtney.reis (discuss • contribs) |
