How to build secure systems or services?

edit

A good start to create awareness for the many facets of technical security. There should also be a link to the discussion 'how to build secure systems', e.g. Security engineering. Otherwise the page stay to be a compendium. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ppso (talkcontribs) 14 July 2020 (UTC)

@Ppso: See the Information Systems/Security#See Also section. Security engineering is just an empty shell that has been relatively untouched for more than a decade. The other security resources already included are more appropriate for this first-semester overview course. -- Dave Braunschweig (discusscontribs) 15:48, 14 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Dave Braunschweig: what I'm basically missing is a part that addresses what security needs to be build into a system. There can be reference to Ross Andersons accessible book. This would also suite the page Security engineering. Or there's a part pointing to suitable material for risk-based security engineering. --Ppso (discusscontribs) 19:08, 14 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Ppso: This course targets a specific set of objectives and is used in real-world courses meeting college requirements. Please see https://clep.collegeboard.org/business/information-systems . Security engineering is not part of the exam outline. -- Dave Braunschweig (discusscontribs) 00:06, 15 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Dave Braunschweig: Okay, seems that the course is preparing sys ads and that like, not those building systems or services (here: securely). Seems to be my misconception. Scoping the course more clearly seems indicated. --Ppso (discusscontribs) 06:27, 16 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Ppso: Please see Information Systems#Preparation. This is a first semester entry level course for anyone interested in learning more about information systems. It is most common for business students rather than system administrators. System admins start with something like IT Fundamentals. -- Dave Braunschweig (discusscontribs) 14:54, 16 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
