Statement

edit

JaylanHaley (talk • email • contribs • stats • logs • global account) am a recent graduate of Norwich University with a Master of Arts in Diplomacy specializing in International Conflict Management. I have been searching for ways to involve myself in the academic community so that I can advance the study of social sciences and more specifically, Political Science. I think Wikiversity is an excellent outlet for me to engage as I can share my knowledge of the world with those that wish to learn and possibly jump start a project that seems to have fallen by the wayside. The activity in the Social Sciences Department has been particularly paltry and I would like to spearhead an effort to revitalize the entire department as well as specifically contributing to the School of Political Science. While I do think that hierarchical organizations are not in good keeping with the Wiki Way as far as information is concerned, I do think that we need to create the structures for organizational purposes. Thus by providing me with a Custodial Candidacy status I am endeavoring to build a real university structure for the Department of Social Sciences and the School of Political Science that is based on collective reasoning and consensus. I hope that my contributions will place Wikiversity back on the map as a place to come to learn even if you don't get a degree. This is a phenomenal concept and I would like to see it succeed. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by JaylanHaley (talkcontribs) 08:40, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

This all sounds goodm, JayIanHaley - go for it! Can I suggest you get a few hundred or more edits under your belt, build some resources, and get involved in some regular maintenance tasks first, then consider nominating for custodianship? It would be good to see political science resources developed. Hope this helps. -- Jtneill - Talk - c 13:49, 31 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
