Abstract

The drought and unpredictable rainfall are major abiotic constraints for the rice production in mid hills districts of Nepal. A study was conducted to assess the correlation and path analysis of different traits of Oryza sativa L. rice for mid hills from June to October 2017. Eight genotypes were evaluated in randomized complete block design (RCBD) with 3 replications. Significant differences were found in earliness, 1000 grain weight and plant height in analysis of variance. The correlation between yield and yield contributing factors showed highly significant positive association between grain yield and panicle weight. Grain yield had significant positive association with test weight, biological yield and straw yield. Grain yield was found to have direct negative effects with unfilled grains in a panicle and panicle length. The panicle weight can be suitable trait for the study of yield performance in rainfed conditions.
