I am Marnie Lane. I am studying at The University of Canberra. I am in my 3rd and final year of my Bachelor of Science in Psychology. I am currently completing my degree remotely from Sydney, Australia. I am hoping to go on to study a masters degree in Clinical Psychology.

Book chapter

I am enrolled in the unit 'Motivation and Emotion' which looks at the emotional and motivational aspects of psychology. This unit requires the students to write a 4000 work book chapter. The chapter I have chosen is Torture interrogation, motivation, and emotion - What are the motivational and emotional aspects of torture interrogation and how do these impact on the effectiveness of torture interrogation?

  1. 24th August 2023: Through a discussion post, I completed a survey to help Tiahn with her with the research stage of her chapter project on to-do lists.
  2. 24th August 2023: Through a discussion post, I provided Tiahn with an insightful ted talk video that aims to provide her with more understanding of her chapter project on to-do lists.
  3. 24th August 2023: Through a discussion post, I completed a poll that Angela had asked us to complete to help her gain an understanding of how the topic of bedtime procrastination affected the everyday life of students. I replied to Angela's letting her know I completed the poll and wishing her luck with her chapter.
  4. 26th September 2023: I uploaded a free-to-use image of me skiing in Queenstown, New Zealand to Wikipedia Commons.
  5. 26th September 2023: Through a discussion post, I completed a survey to help Alice with her research stage of her chapter project on tragic optimism.
  6. 26th September 2023: Through a discussion post, I provided Alice with an interesting peer reviewed published article that aims to provide her with a unique perspective of her chapter project on tragic optimism.
  7. 27th September 2023: I read through Gaissa's chapter on ego death and added a comment with my thoughts and opinions on her progress. Within this comment, I provided the suggestion of adding in cite references to back up her arguments.
  8. 27th September 2023: I read through Gaissa's chapter on ego death and added an image/figure to support her arguments and to engage the audience with visual stimulation.
  9. 27th September 2023: I read through a peer's (no name) book chapter on sadism and discovered some confronting themes such as sexual assault and violence. I added a trigger warning at the beginning of their chapter to help students who may find this content confronting.
  10. 29th September 2023: I read through Mia's chapter on growth mindset and suggested she added a table to ease readability for the viewers whilst simultaneously adding a learning figure.
  11. 29th September 2023: I read through Mia's social contributions and added the date these were completed and some further detail of the contribution.
