Talk:Wikiversity workshop at Wikimania 2007

What do you think of the timing of these activities? Is there space for one more question that's burning in my mind about how Wikiversity can be of service to the teacher/learner who wants to simply access Wikiversity material for use in their own "extra-Wikiversity" context? If we have too many questions, I fear we will not be able to have a really productive feedback session when the groups reconvene. How many is "too many" questions? Hi again, the workshop raises interesting topics for discussion. Couple of thoughts as a first impression: I'm not sure if 20 min is enough time for discussion. On topic 1, I think any of the foci could be enough to discuss, e.g., only discuss "learning activity". Finally, I wonder if most people attending will have a grasp of these issues.

I wonder if doing actual learning activities together for 1/2 the period (on workstations in small groups) and then having a feedback summary from those groups and then having a round robind discussion might be another type of workshop format that could work?

Given time limits, I wonder if considering how WV interfaces with other Wikimedia projects might be something to approach in another session. --Reswik 01:33, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

Thanks very much - I share your uncertainty about time, and I'd like for people to really get into discussion. I also want to think freely about this - does this session warrant 1.5 hours perhaps? However, one idea would be to use this session as a good brainstorm, and to leave the inevitable bubbling of questions for a follow-up activity on Wikiversity. I like the idea of doing activities in groups - although I'm also nervous it could spiral out of hand, and/or lose focus. Do you have any suggestions for what activites to do, and how to frame them? Thanks Javier, I hope that there will be live video (or at least audio) streaming of the room - though this will perhaps be difficult to capture completely when activity is broken down into groups, as I had planned. There'll definitely at least be IRC as a platform (probably using the freenode "wikiversity" channel?), within which to store questions and comments to supplement discussion. Yeah. IRC channel would be nice, cus I can be on video. Anyway skype conference would be also suitable, because, we can share audiovisual data and links more quickly, than using IRC.--Juan 12:17, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

Hard to say (is this right in English?). I think people from Wikimedia knows IRC very good. In the case of Skype, I also think people use ICQ, or AOL messenger than SKYPE. But I would prefer Skype because it is basic and easy to use, by means of quick sharing ideas and data. There are also servers available were we can share bigger files, but this is probably something different. Anyway I thought that there will be official live brodcasting or not? Recording

I think all workshops and activities shlould be recorded. There are hundreds of people who are interested in Wikimania, but for such a reasons they can come. This is an opportunity, how they can, back in time, get ideas you will share and build up their own knoweledge. The problem authorifying you probably thought people present remotely, because people present in Taipei, they will lost their face identity for sure. It would be no problem to cut these people out, but I thing we will not have a problem with this (we who will go there via internet).--Juan 12:28, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
