Editorial board application of Roger M. Rosewall

Roger M. Rosewall Doctor of Engineering (D.Eng.) (website)
Areas of expertise: Systems Engineering

Relevant experience:

Professional - 30+ years professional employment
Publishing - Reviewer for International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE)
Open - Currently using MediaWiki to collaborate on a Raytheon project

I confirm that I will act in accordance with the policies of the WikiJournal of Science. Rosewall2020 (discusscontribs) 15:51, 6 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Additional note: "My systems engineering experience is fairly broad, but I claim particular domain expertise in defense, intelligence, and homeland security." - Roger M. Rosewall by email
Additional note: "As a volunteer organization, INCOSE depends on the time and effort graciously contributed by individuals like yourself, supported by your organization, to make its programs a success. Through this leadership, we develop and share information that improves the practice of systems engineering by member individuals and their companies. Again, thank you for your time and commitment to INCOSE and the Systems Engineering community." - Excerpt from thankyou letter forwarded by Roger M. Rosewall by email
  •   Support We occasionally get submissions using applied systems that may need your expertise and review. I hope you would be willing to do this. When you write "using MediaWiki to collaborate on a Raytheon project" I assume you mean the Raytheon DOMino program. Have you uploaded a copy of MediaWiki for this use or are you using the WMF projects? Have you considered contributing to the various Wikipedia articles on Systems Engineering? --Marshallsumter (discusscontribs) 02:29, 5 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
  •   Support Certainly we could do with some more engineering knowledge on board and appreciate that professional engineering generates different outputs than academic engineering. Some more information would be useful though, e.g.: What does being a reviewer for INCOSE entail? Do you maintain a broad systems engineering knowledge or are you specialised in a particular aspect? T.Shafee(Evo﹠Evo)talk 11:37, 18 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
  •   Support I agree with the other editor comments and would love to hear more about INCOSE. --Saguaromelee (discusscontribs) 17:23, 9 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
  •   Oppose Not enough detail in the application, not enough reactivity to the questions here. Apply again when more experienced with MediaWiki? Sylvain Ribault (discusscontribs) 20:53, 13 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
  •   Oppose I agree with Sylvain Ribault. There is very little evidence to support open experience aside from "using MediaWiki to collaborate on a Raytheon project", which I would assume is military-related and closed access. That example demonstrates poor (or mis)understanding of the open movement. This individual had no meaningful contribution on WMF projects. OhanaUnitedTalk page 19:55, 17 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
  •   Support Roger has certainly worked collaboratively at INCOSE, where he has played a significant role. That organization shares meta-knowledge (engineering process knowledge) across national boundaries from what are often otherwise confidential projects, which are themselves highly collaborative within their supply chains, often involving multiple tiers of contractors and sub-contractors to meet client requirements. Roger will be an asset to the editorial team. Ian Alexander (discusscontribs) 11:40, 22 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

I'm closing this one as a decline for now since the board was unable to come to consensus. Despite definitely useful networking via INCOSE and technical & professional skills, there are significant reservations raised regarding lack of familiarity with the open movement and the connections with Raytheon. I am aware of the nascent psychology WikiJournal, which I could potentially switch to later, but my research sits between psychology and neuroscience in a sense, and also I do meta-science research which might fit best with WikiJournal of Science?

  •   Support. A stack of relevant experience - particularly in the early stages of journal establishment. I'd similarly be happy to see them on an editorial board, so I have no hesitation in supporting an assoc editor application. They'd be welcome to additionally join, ore more over to, the in prep psych journal once it's finally up and running. T.Shafee(Evo﹠Evo)talk 01:13, 21 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
