Talk:Motivation and emotion/Book/2024/ADHD and emotional regulation

Initial Suggestions

edit

Hello, I have read through the start of your topic development and have some ideas for you to consider. For your case study, although it alludes to emotion regulation difficulties during times of stress, it does not mention an individual with ADHD who may suffer from emotion dysregulation differently. I think your case study would introduce the topic more effectively if it was specific to an individual with ADHD, even if you just mention it. I also think it may be important to include a seperate section on defining and explaining ADHD, as it is a complex disorder with a multitude of components. Overall, a good start to your topic development! -- U3236447 (discusscontribs) 00:25, 11 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Starting feedback & emotional regulation techniques

edit

Hi! Great work so far. You’ve leveraged thecae study really well, it really drew me in and added an emotional component which made me interested in the topic. Great use of figures too which I'm sure you'll add more of as you progress. I'm curious about reading more about those emotional regulation techniques in the mindfulness and reappraisal sections yet to be filled out. I think this will be particularly interesting since pharmacological interventions are the typical 'solution' to managing the emotional reactivity of ADHD. You've left a note mentioning that you may choose a different direction than reappraisal. I understand this may be due to reference/source restraints but I think it would be a really enlightening point that would enrich your book chapter well. All the best with the rest of your work! --U3242909 (discusscontribs) 01:33, 15 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Defining constructs in the overview

edit

Hello, the structure and what you plan to include in your book chapter looks great so far. Just a small suggestion, which has been communicated to me aswell, is that you may want to shorten your section on explaining emotion regulation. As your book chapter needs to focus on the relationship between ADHD and emotion regulation, you might consider only briefly defining emotion regulation in the overview and including some links that readers can go to for further information if they want. Otherwise, you may not have enough space to complete the necessary analysis of the interaction between ADHD and emotion regulation in the 4000-word count. Hope this helps! --U3236447 (discusscontribs) 07:28, 29 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
