1871, Woodman moved from "the Stoke Newington area of north London," where he "practiced medicine," to Exeter (Gale 1828).

1876, Woodman was appointed Junior Substitute Magus in the Societas Rosicruciana in Anglia.

1888 February 12, "Of uncertain parentage, and with an unknown date of conception, the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn came into being in the material world on 12 February 1888 when the three founding Chiefs of the Isis-Urania Temple -- Westcott, Woodman, and Mathers -- signed their pledges of fidelity" (Gilbert 86 1).

December 1890, Woodman died. According to Theresa J. O'Connell, he had "held the office of Imperator" "from the first opening of Isis Urania (Gilbert 86 12).
