is this school necessary?

I want to question the relevence of this school. I may be well be wrong but why should we make a confusing seperation between subjects that a 'have practical application to everyday life' and thoses that don't? Most feild of study will most likey fall under both and this school seems like it will only confuse the catorgarising of subjects. m_dentonNZ 08:42, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

Well, but there is a problem with some subjects. For example, where would you classify the studies of a pilot? Some subjects are multidisciplinar and gather many fields. I'm studiying Aeronautical Management and I have subjects as Medicine, Economics, Counting, Maths, Physics, Psychology, Geography, Meteorology, Computing, Law and everything needed for being a pilot (Navigation, Communication, Procedures, Performances, Intrumentation...). I agree with Pbolgiani. The distinction between "practical" and "academic" is real and relevant as illustrated by the divergence in focus and method between Trade Schools and Universities. For instance, I intend to create a welding course. While there is a certain amount of metallurgy and mathematics involved, the bulk of the craft can only be learned by carefully guided and exhaustive physical repetition. This sets it entirely apart, pedagogically, from even closely related "impractical" schools like engineering or construction management. Unless you mean to exclude traditional trade-related, hands-on courses, then this dichotomy cannot be ignored. Lordcorvid 23:03, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

Foreign Languages as a division?

By the way, the building on the picture on the Portal (Astra brewery office building in Hamburg, Germany by architect von Bassewitz, no longer exists. The building was shaped after a beer glass. If that was good architecture is disputed. The people who broke it down thought no :-)Nannus 21:03, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
