Real and Complex Analysis

When I made the Pure Math division (part of the Math School), I added this subdivision/department, mostly as filler. I see people have taken interest in it. I've not spent much time learning about analysis.. I don't even know if i chose such a good name. Anyways, from what i see here, there is also a Calculus section. My original intent was for calculus related fields to go under Applied Math. But with the nature of this wiki's hierarchy, it is possible for Calculus to be a part of Pure Math and Applied Math. However, is it wise to consider Calculus part of Pure Math?

Typically, I've seen real analysis and complex analysis taught separately. As for the calculus, there's also, "Calculus for engineers", "Calculus for mathematicians", et cetera. I think we should just develop materials as we see fit, and if pedagogy starts diverging, it would be a simple matter to split into subpages and such. --HappyCamper 19:32, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

I believe it is difficult to sepperate Math into distinct groups with no overlaps. Calculus forms an important building block for the field of Analysis. I propose that as part of Analysis it should be included with the study of Real Analysis. Therefore changing the heading of Real Analysis to Calculus and Real Analysis. Your thoughts? Measure Theory started

I've just created an intro under the measure theory subject. I can occasionally try to build this project, but I'm pretty unfamiliar with how to edit higher-level Wiki stuff. So currently measure theory does not show up under the main mathematics portal for Wikiversity. If you follow the link to mathematical analysis you then have to follow a link through the mathematical analysis portal, and only then do you see measure theory. This seems like a lot of people will not find these links, so I would expect it's better to move resources so that they can be found on the main portal or at least through a natural sequences of clicks. --Addemf (discuss • contribs) 23:21, 4 July 2021 (UTC)

@Addemf: This portal receives one view a day, on average. The Mathematics portal receives 126 views a day, on average. I wouldn't put too much effort into this portal. Also note that only the seven major portals are listed on the home page and portals don't appear in searches. It's better to put your energy into regular main space pages if you want to help others learn about mathematical analysis (which doesn't even have a page yet). -- Dave Braunschweig (discuss • contribs) 20:45, 4 July 2021 (UTC)
