# Period (physics)

A **period** * T* is the time required for one complete cycle of vibration to pass a given point

^{[1]}. As the frequency of a wave increases, the period of the wave decreases.

*Period*are in reciprocal relationships and can be expressed mathematically as:

*Total time*divided by the

*Number of cycles*.
