Miami International Child & Adolescent Mental Health (MICAMH) Conference

From its inception, the Society of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology (SCCAP), APA Division 53, has been committed to advancing the clinical knowledge base and services provided to children and their families. The MICAMH Conference (formerly known as the Niagara-in-Miami Conference) is co-sponsored by the Center for Children and Families, The Children's Trust, the Society of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology (SCCAP) (APA Division 53), and Miami-Dade County Public Schools. MICAMH Conference is one of the world's leading interdisciplinary conferences on state-of-the-art, evidence-based prevention and treatments for mental health and educational problems in children and adolescents. World experts and preeminent scholars in clinical child and adolescent psychology present didactic lectures, workshops, and hands-on experiences to teach professionals the basic principles and advanced strategies of effective psychosocial, psychoeducational, pharmacological, and combined interventions, including clinic-based treatments, school-wide interventions and parent training. The MICAMH Conference is hosted by Florida International University (FIU) located at Roz and Cal Kovens Conference Center on Florida International University's Biscayne Bay Campus, 3000 N.E. 151st Street North Miami, FL 33181-3000. Dr. William (Bill) E. Pelham, Director of CCF and Distinguished Professor of Psychology at FIU, founded and directs the Niagara Falls/Miami Conference on Evidence-based Treatments for Childhood and Adolescent Mental Health Problem (MICAMH) when he brought it from Buffalo, New York to FIU.[1]

Wikiversity pages

edit

In 2018, we started using Wikiversity pages to share selected materials from sessions. Advantages of the Wiki format are that a single set of pages could gather the information from throughout the schedule (including parallel sessions). The pages also include links to resources and materials referred to in the talks and discussions. Another feature of the Wiki is that content can be added in real time (and student editors will add some content "on the fly" during discussions), and pages are still "live" and editable after the convention. Yet another aspect of the Wiki is that there are "Discussion" pages attached to each of the content pages, where more informal question and answer and discussion can take place.

In short, these pages create a shared set of notes and resources that participants can continue to use and build upon even after the meeting. They also are a shared resource for people interested in Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology, broadly speaking, globally.
