Instructional design/Divergent Thinking/Why use Divergent Thinking

What is in this lesson for you?

Divergent thinking is difficult to cultivate in any structured learning intervention. How do you get learners to think creatively in a society where learners are always looking for the right answer to move on to the next task in the world? As we look at some of the new technologies and inventions in the past decade, we can see that many of them are a result of divergent thinking. This course will help instructional designers understand the SCAMPER concept as well as how to infuse divergent thinking questions into his or her design to promote divergent thinking and creativity when approaching a problem. Through the course, the elements of SCAMPER will be broken down, described and learners will be given an opportunity to apply their knowledge by selecting the questions that are related to each element of the SCAMPER process.
