Origin of the statements on this help page

edit

The help page as initially written attempts to describe the status quo of blogging on Wikiversity. There were about half-a-dozen or so examples of blogs at the time of writing, mainly written by more active users, although many of these blogs were discontinued. Users seem to have all voluntarily restricted their blogs to their user namespace. I don't have a blog myself and am neutral about the topic, but I can imagine that someone will one day propose the deletion of all blogs (I have no opinion about that either). --McCormack 13:31, 14 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

I think it's rather more likely that a commercial blogging platform will disappear (as has happened many times before), leave no trace of one's data. The Wikimedia Foundation seems a better bet to me. As for editorial deletions, I think that any content relating to learning (which is a pretty massive scope!) is very unlikely to be removed. — Sam Wilson ( TalkContribs ) … 06:50, 8 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
@Samwilson I agree. Pity that WMF has no aspirations on using its good reputation in longevity for hosting more of a social media spectrum of content. WikiBLOGs could be one content type to experiment on WikiSPORE.org no? --Zblace (discusscontribs) 08:34, 16 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Zblace: Yes, I think Wikispore might be a good place for this sort of thing. It'd probably also be easier to build it with things like Cargo over there. I keep meaning to get back to RSS support for that. — Sam Wilson ( TalkContribs ) … 05:07, 17 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Vanity Fair

edit

There are so many places you can create your own page or blog on the WWW. It can satify your thirst for publication, for sharing your thoughts with others, of course you need to have time. The Web has become a Vanity Fair. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eglilan (talkcontribs) 4 March 2009 (UTC)

Not untrue, but also thins are not so black and white most of the time and for Wikimedia wikis to have Bloging options is not the worse compromise that could happen, in fact it could help advance the situation at least for Wikimedians ;-P --Zblace (discusscontribs) 08:42, 16 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

(Learning) Wikimedia Blogs

edit

If blogs could be content type for learning *(often they are) than it is easy to argue for their presence on most if not all Wikis of Wikimedia. For me rather then discussing yes/no it would be WhatWhyHow to do it. --Zblace (discusscontribs) 08:42, 16 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
