FLOSS/FLOSS for Social Entrepreneurs and Students of Social Entrepreneurship

<<

For social entrepreneurship it makes sense to use FLOSS in the interests of digital inclusion.

The type of FLOSS needed will vary according to the nature of your project, etc..

Although there is likely to be overlap, the spaces below are for sharing links to useful FLOSS for social entrepreneurship activities, data capture, analysis, reporting, etc.

Please add software libre available and indicate how it may be used in a student social entrepreneurship project.

Education edit

A list of FLOSS for Education is provided here - though the software may be used in many contexts other than education, and we include office productivity tools for use in this context (of writing up your report).

If you find any others which prove useful, please add them to the list(s).

General Productivity edit

  • OpenOffice.org for documents, spreadsheets and presentations, etc.
  • OpenProj for project planning (though a spreadsheet will often suffice)

Notes edit

Most students like to take notes during the course of their studies. The following tools are designed for this. Notes taken during the process may prove really useful later and especially at the end while writing up the final report.

  • KDE Sticky Notes - included with most GNU/Linux distributions running KDE (on screen postits with features such as insert date, set alarm, show/hide notes, mail, print, etc.).
