Dutch Language/Adjectives

Remember this:
If an adjective comes before a noun with a definite article ("de" or "het"), it gets the ending -e
If an adjective comes after a noun with a definite article ("de" or "het"), it does not get the ending -e


  • Klein/Kleine (Kleine for plural) - Small
  • Onbeleefd - Rude
  • Groot - Big
  • Snel - Fast
  • Kort - Short
  • Langzaam - Slow
  • Zacht - Soft/Squishy
  • Licht - Light
  • Donker - Dark
  • Zwak (or Zwakke (with a "het" word)) - Weak
  • Sterk (or Sterke (with a "het" word)) - Strong
  • Zwaar (or Zware (with a "het" word)) - Heavy
  • Hard (or Harde (with a "het" word)) - Hard
  • Zuur (or Zure (with a "het" word)) - Sour
  • Zoet - Sweet
  • Belangrijk - Important
  • Jong (not Jongen) - Young
  • Oud - Old
  • Moeilijk - Difficult
  • Slecht - Bad
  • Goed - Good
  • Duur - Expensive
  • Vers - Fresh
  • Interessant - Interesting
  • Leeg - Empty
  • Vol - Full of
  • Goedkoop - Cheap
  • Gratis - Free
  • Rijp - Ripe
  • Warm - Warm
  • Koud - Cold
  • Net Zoals - Just like
  • Schoon - Clean
