Digital portfolio/Patricia Zavella

Professor Patricia Zavella is currently a professor at the University of California, Santa Cruz. She teaches and is the current department chair of the Latin American and Latino studies department. Zavella joined the UC Santa Cruz faculty in 1983. In 2008 Zavella was the Honored Faculty Research Lecturer. In 2010 Zavella was named the co-winner of the Distinguished Achievement in the Critical Study of North America by the Society for the Anthropology of North America along with Catherine Lutz, chair of the anthropology department at Brown University.[1]

Education History

Zavella attended Chapman Community College after high school. After Chapman Community College Zavella went to Pitzer College. Zavella then went to the University of California, Berkeley where she received her M.A. and a Ph. D in Anthropology.[2]

Chicana/o-Latina/o studies, women's work and domestic labor, poverty, family, sexuality and social networks, feminist studies, ethnographic research methods, and transnational migration of Mexicana/o workers and U.S. capital.[8]
