San Jose is a city in the northern part of California. Founded on November 29, 1777, as El Pueblo de San Jose de Guadalupe, San José was California’s first civilian settlement. With the booming tech industry in the 1990s, San José earned its moniker as the Capital of Silicon Valley. With more than one million residents, San José is the largest city in Northern California and the 10th largest city in the United States. San Jose is comprised of its three main regions: North, East and West San Jose.

North San Jose

North San Jose is the northern region of San Jose, California. It is mainly known to be the home to the major 6,600 plus tech companies such as Samsung, Cisco, and PayPal.

It is also the home of the Avaya Stadium, which is the home of the Major League Soccer team San Jose Earthquakes. The stadium was officially opened on February 27, 2015, and has the capacity of holding an approximate of 18,000 people. Also located in North San Jose is the Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport.

The population of North San Jose is approximately 22,291 people. The median age of that region is 31 years old. The majority race living there are Asians which is 46%, followed by Caucasians of 32%. The median household income is $95,700. The highest income is $228,900, while the lowest is $50,300. There has been an estimated total reported crime of 4,879. The 91% (4,435) being property crime and the rest of 9% (444) as violent crimes.

East San Jose

East San Jose is the eastern region of San Jose, California. East San Jose was laid out in 1868 and incor­porated in 1906 in hopes of being a temperance community. The first expansion of the city boundaries to incorporate adjacent residential areas was the annexation of the Gardiner district on the west and the town of East San Jose in 1911.

The population of East San Jose is approximately 111,160 people. The median age of that region is 35 years old. The majority race living there are Hispanics which is 55.1% followed by Asians which is 33.9%. The median household income is $74,000, The highest income is $201,400 and the lowest is $34,000.

There has been an estimated total reported crime of about 2,863. 83% (2,396) being property crime and 17% (467) as violent crimes.

West San Jose

West San Jose is the western region of San Jose, California. It is home to arguably San Jose's most famous landmark, the Winchester Mystery House.

The population of West San Jose is approximately 95,361 people. The median age is 40 years old. The majority race living there are Asians which is 40.2% followed by Caucasians which is 32.9%. The median household income is $104,600. The highest income is $244,600 and the lowest is $44,000.

There has been an estimated total reported crime of about 1,758. 88% (1544) being property crime and 12% (214) of violent crimes.
