The 2020 Taycan is the newest addition to the Porsche family. Porsche is an automotive company that specializes in high performance sports cars, sedans, and SUVs for the mindful racers at heart. The Taycan is the first all-electric sedan introduced to Porsche. Before the Taycan, Porsche supplied hybrid motors, also known as E-hybrid motors, that catered to both gasoline and electric propulsion that can be powered separately or both at the same time. Over the years, Porsche has been well known on the racetrack for its dynamic, high quality performance of combustion engines. Now, Porsche has adapted to the evolving society of EV technology.

The launch date for the Taycan was scheduled for March of 2020 and due to COVID-19, many people returned their deposits. Deposits were able to be made for the car in an advance starting June of 2019.

Since his idea was launched in 1948, founder Ferdinand Porsche was able to build a legacy solely on what he believed was a car made with both opulence and speed.

2020 Taycan Models

All Taycans are built with a 800V performance battery that accepts charge power of up to 270kW, and has a driving range of 388-412km. "The 800 volt battery allows for a full charge in approximately 22.5 minutes under optimum conditions"[2]. The Taycan is based on 800-volt technology instead of the usual 400-volt to improve the amount of cable crossings along with the overall weight dynamic of the car. In the cabin, the dashboard is a fully digital, 16.8-inch curved display with a 8.4-inch center console control panel that lines up with a 10.9-inch central display. The Taycan Turbo and the Turbo S are both installed with two permanent magnet synchronous motors, one on each axle. "The effect of this was to provide superior driving dynamics and all-wheel drive that can be optimally adjusted to the fluctuation between efficiency and dynamics"[3]. "The concept behind the permanent magnet synchronous motor was to provide high power density, high continuous output, and high efficiency in a compact design"[4]. Taycans provide a Launch Control of up to 560kW(750 HP) overboost power.
