Digital Media Concepts/Nano Bots and CO2

Nano-bots and CO2 edit

Nano-bots or short for Nanorobotics, are tiny machines/robots at the nanoscale level which are usually ranging from 1 to 100 nanometers. These microscopic devices are designed to perform specific tasks at the molecular or cellular level. Nano-bots hold immense potential for various fields, including medicine, environmental remediation, and manufacturing, and removing CO2 from certain areas due to their precise control and ability to manipulate matter at the atomic scale.[1]

Applications of Nano-bots edit

Medicine Nano-bots show promise in targeted drug delivery, minimally invasive surgeries, and disease detection and treatment. They are used to navigate through the bloodstream and deliver drugs directly to cancerous cells, or repair damaged tissues with unprecedented precision.Things like cancer nano-bots are used for specific tissues and cells they can deliver to. Also, used for Environmental Remediation having to do with the pollutants on our planet. Biotechnology which uses them to understand the biomolecules and cellular processes for their research, which is similar to the nano-electronics to understand things like fabrics or materials to improve and researching ways to enhance for electrical circuits. Security they are used for to detect chemical or biological threats, plus used on as materials for clothing and armor to make it protective and equipment. [2]

Environmental Remediation edit

Nano-bots have several applications in environmental cleanup, such as removing pollutants from soil and water or capturing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from industrial sources.Which is one such as Soil Remediation which makes nano-bots target specific pollutants in the soil such as heavy metals, pesticides, and hydrocarbons. Water Purification is the solution for water where they do the same by removing pollutants, pathogens, and microorganisms from main water sources. Which enhances the water quality during the water process. They also are used for air quality monitoring which capture the harmful pollutants from the industrial emissions. Specifically carbon dioxide and any other pollutants which change the impact of climate change.

Manufacturing edit

Nano-bots can revolutionize manufacturing processes by enabling precise manipulation and assembly of materials at the nanoscale, leading to the development of advanced materials and devices with unique properties. Carbon dioxide (CO2) is a colorless, odorless gas composed of one carbon atom and two oxygen atoms. It is a naturally occurring greenhouse gas, essential for photosynthesis and the carbon cycle. However, human activities, such as burning fossil fuels, deforestation, and industrial processes, have significantly increased CO2 levels in the atmosphere, leading to global warming and climate change.

Impact of CO2 edit

Climate Change edit

Elevated CO2 levels contribute to global warming by trapping heat in the Earth's atmosphere, leading to rising temperatures, melting ice caps, and changes in weather patterns.Other ways they can be used for climate change is to be sent into atmospheres. Being engineered to bind with the CO2 molecules, which can effectively remove them from the air. Which carbon capture and storage technologies, mostly used at industrial process facilities and power plants before releasing it into the air. Once they are captured the CO2 could’ve converted into useful products through processes such as carbon mineralization. [3]

Ocean Acidification edit

Excess CO2 absorbed by the oceans leads to ocean acidification, threatening marine ecosystems and coral reefs, which are vital for biodiversity and fisheries. It leads to making coral reefs and the shell species inside of reefs cause them to be endangered in their own habitat. Although, Nano-bots can be spread and put into reefs to deliver nutrients, protective coatings to the coral reefs. Enhancing the ocean and alternately saving majority of the ocean when developed to help. [4]

Air Pollution edit

High levels of CO2 in the atmosphere contribute to air pollution and respiratory problems, particularly in urban areas with heavy traffic and industrial activity. The number one source of CO2 in the atmosphere is from Greenhouse emissions. Which is one of the main reasons why climate change is happening so rapidly, causing hazard affects to habitats to our ecosystems and even for human life. Releasing nanotubes which are used to capture CO2 and eliminate them inside of a Nano-membrane material. Which according to current research could be one of the best solutions for our environments. [5]

Nano--bot methods edit

Several methods exist or are under development to try to reduce the problem of climate change due to all the fossil fuels and pollution in the air.Nanotechnology is one way to help reduce carbon dioxide in a cost-effective way. A conventional method that nanotechnology may improve upon is called ‘scrubbers'. CO2 Solution is using genetic engineering to produce an enzyme that is more effective in removing carbon dioxide gas from the exhaust than other materials in use. The carbon dioxide is then converted into bicarbonate into a solution with water. This method, which is almost in the pilot plant stage, makes strides in improving existing power plants that would have to be retrofitted to use the new bioreactor. Although to fit it would cost a significant amount.[6]

Future Directions edit

The development of nano-bots for CO2 capture and utilization represents a promising avenue for addressing the global challenge of climate change. Continued research and innovation in nanotechnology hold the potential to revolutionize CO2 mitigation strategies and contribute to a sustainable future. For our environment, ecosystem, and ocean to be sure we overtime fix the climate change with further trial and error with nano-bots. Just to use them for mostly greenhouse pollutants specifically due to it being the number one reason why we have so much threat.
