Early Life and Education
editLilly Singh(born September 26, 1988) or better known as IISuperwomanII is a Canadian YouTube celebrity, author, actress, and motivational speaker. [1]. Lilly Singh was raised as a Sikh by her parents, Malwinder and Sukhwinder, both who had migrated to Canada from Punjab .[1] The prominent YouTube star attended Lester B. Pearson Collegiate Institute and then later attended York University where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2010. During this time, Singh was battling through depression and decided to make YouTube videos as therapy and to also make others happy. Growing up Singh had no intentions of being a psychologist, instead she desired on being a power ranger or a rapper, however her parents guided her towards a psychology degree, with intentions of becoming a counselor. editLilly Singh started a YouTube channel in October of 2010 under the nickname IISuperwomanII. Singh had mentioned that the name Superwoman was originated from her childhood belief that she had an invisible “S” on her chest, believing that she could achieve anything she wanted do. Singh's Punjabi culture is most often characterized in her videos as well as bantering takes on everyday life and motivational videos. As of February 19, 2018 Singh has over 13,265,047 subscribers on her YouTube channel and is the 4th most popular female on youtube. [2]

editBesides making YouTube Videos, Lilly Singh has also appeared in several movies. In 2011, Singh made her debut in a Bollywood movie [3]. In 2014, Singh appeared in Gulaab Gang and played the part of Lilly in Dr. Cabbie.[3]
World Tours & Live Performances
editOn March 15, Singh began her "A Trip to Unicorn Island World Tour" around India, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, UK, Dubai, Canada, Trinidad and Tobago, and the United States to acclimate her Youtube material which contained of music, dancing, comedy, and live music performances. Singh's tour was documented and it led to her first movie A Trip To Unicorn Island, which expresses how fame is affecting her life. "The movie was released on February 10, 2016 on YouTube Red. Singh's debut book How To Be a Bawse: A Guide to Conquering Life, was released the following year on March, 28, 2017. [4]

editSingh has managed to keep her personal life as private as possible after becoming popular. However, Lilly Singh publicly stated that she is currently dating Yousef Erakat. Singh and Erakat have been dating since August 6, 2015. Singh announced the news on her Facebook that she is dating a Youtube celebrity.[8]

editSingh has won multiple awards from the Streamy Awards and Teen Choice Awards. Awards include from Social Superstar of the year, Original Soundtrack, First Person Award, and Choice Web Star. She was most recently awarded the First Person Award in 2017 at the Streamy Awards.
