Digital Media Concepts/Custom Built Computer/Storage (HDD/SSD)

Storage is a type of component that stores data onto your system. There are types of storage, there's a Hard Drive (HDD) and a Solid State Drive (SSD). A hard drive stores data on a stack of disks that spin extremely fast speeds, from 5400, 7200 10,000 up to 15,000 RPM that can be accessed anywhere from the drive. Hard drives are older and slower than a Solid State Drive but are cheaper at high capacity. Solid State Drives are more modern and are the fastest type of storage today. They use "flash storage" to store data onto the drive and use semiconductors to store code instead of using a disk that the hard drive uses. They are more quieter than a hard drive because of the constant disk movement sound that they produce. SSD's are up to 4x faster than hard drives but are more expensive at high capacity.
