Collaborative computing/Virtual private network (VPN)

A VPN (Virtual Private Network) is a dedicated connection to a LAN (Local Area Network) via the internet. When connected via a VPN connection, a Local Area Network is not restricted by the limitations regarding physical cables, and the local network can therefore connect to the internet through a VPN client.

In an effort to conceal your online identity, VPN software encrypts your data, routes it over secure networks utilizing private servers that may be located very far away, and also masks your device's IP address. By granting the user's anonymity, it provides quick and safe access to platforms that would otherwise be unavailable to the user owing to their location.[1]
