Collaborative computing/Internet protocol

Internet Protocol (IP) is the primary communication protocol when transferring packets from one computer to another. It is responsible for routing packets to the correct receiver. With IP, data are broken up into small independent packets and sent between computers via the Internet. The relevant data isn't important, but the transfer. IP connects local networks, thus establishing Internetworking. It is an unreliable process due to the IP doesn't give any feedback, when routing packets.
