Wikiversity:Server logs

This page is a log of the times when Wikiversity webpages cannot be reached but Wikipedia can be reached.

What to do

edit

As soon as a Wikiversity page fails to load, try to record the number of the server that failed to serve the Wikiversity page. When a Wikiversity page fails to load, use the view menu of your browser, select "page source", scroll to the bottom of the HTML and there should be something like: "Served by srv138 in 0.197 secs."

Error messages

edit

Sometimes a server will return an error message such as:

Database error
A database query syntax error has occurred. This may indicate a bug in the software. The last attempted database query was:

(SQL query hidden)

from within function "Article::insertOn". MySQL returned error "1062: Duplicate entry '102-Mathematicsnew/Did_you_know' for key 2 (10.0.0.101)".

Defective page renderings

edit

Sometimes a Wikiversity page does not render correctly.

Examples

edit

The example above was for 13 June, 2007 and was the only problem I had all day.

14 June 2007 - Today I've already had 5 similar (to that shown above for 13 June) page loads, but four of these had only a block of garbage characters, with no valid HTML below and no indication of the server involved. The fourth was "Served by srv117 in 0.104 secs", the same server that produced the defective page shown above on 13 June. In all cases, reloading the page solved the issue.

At earlier today, around 30 minutes ago: Unknown error (10.0.0.234) --HappyCamper 15:47, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Getting information about the entire server array

Sometimes you can look at the recent server activity and see that there is a problem.
