Transclusion
In computer science, transclusion is the inclusion of part of a document into another document by reference.
For example, a resource called Agricultural policy by country might include sections for The United States, Mexico and India. Transclusion takes parts of documents and distributes them to other contexts. For example:
POLICY/Country | Agriculture | Transportation | Manufacturing | Health |
---|---|---|---|---|
United States | Agricultural policy in the United States | Us-trans | Us-mfg | Us-Health |
Mexico | Mex-ag | Mex-trans | Mex-mfg | Mex-Health |
India | Ind-ag | Ind-trans | Ind-mfg | Healthcare in India |
The term was coined by hypertext pioneer Ted Nelson in 1982.
