Template:PD-notice/doc
This is a documentation subpage for Template:PD-notice. It may contain usage information, categories and other content that is not part of the original template page. |
Usage
editThis template should be placed at the end of a citation if the article incorporates text from that source that is not under copyright and there is no source specific template listed in Category:Attribution templates.
Example
edit...article text.<ref>A.N. Author (1066). ''An Old Book''. {{PD-notice}}</ref>
This would display as
- ...article text.[1]
...and in the references section as
References
- ↑ A.N. Author (1066). An Old Book. This article incorporates text from this source, which is in the public domain.
This can also be achieved with <ref>{{cite book|last=Author|first=A.N.|year=1066|title=An Old Book}} {{PD-notice}}</ref>
or
<ref>{{cite book|last=Author|first=A.N.|year=1066|title=An Old Book|postscript=. {{PD-notice}}}}</ref>
.
The advantage of the last formulation is that it allows the reference to be edited in the Visual Editor interface.
