Usage

edit

This template should be placed at the end of a citation if the article incorporates text from that source that is not under copyright and there is no source specific template listed in Category:Attribution templates.

Example

edit
...article text.<ref>A.N. Author (1066). ''An Old Book''. {{PD-notice}}</ref>

This would display as

...article text.[1]

...and in the references section as

References

  1. A.N. Author (1066). An Old Book. This article incorporates text from this source, which is in the public domain.

This can also be achieved with <ref>{{cite book|last=Author|first=A.N.|year=1066|title=An Old Book}} {{PD-notice}}</ref> or

<ref>{{cite book|last=Author|first=A.N.|year=1066|title=An Old Book|postscript=. {{PD-notice}}}}</ref>.

The advantage of the last formulation is that it allows the reference to be edited in the Visual Editor interface.
