This is a template to indicate the license type, URL and author(s) of material that has been copied as permitted under a compatible Creative Commons license, and is usually placed in the references section of an article.

This template should not be used when merely citing a source, but still write all the article content in your own words. Do not use this template inside <ref>...</ref> tags unless you are quoting or copying content from the cited source directly (word-for-word) into the article.

Parameters

edit
cc: The license type, indicated by one of the following short names (lowercase, no decimals or spaces)
Short name License type
zero CC0 1.0 Universal (CC0 1.0)
by Attribution 1.0 Generic (CC BY 1.0)
by2 Attribution 2.0 Generic (CC BY 2.0)
by3 Attribution 3.0 Unported (CC BY 3.0)
by4 Attribution 4.0 Unported (CC BY 4.0)
by3au Attribution 3.0 Australia (CC BY 3.0 AU)
by3us Attribution 3.0 United States (CC BY 3.0 US)
bysa Attribution-ShareAlike 1.0 Generic (CC BY-SA 1.0)
bysa2 Attribution-ShareAlike 2.5 Generic (CC BY-SA 2.5)
bysa3 Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported (CC BY-SA 3.0)
url: The URL of the source page from which the licensed material was copied
author(s): the author or authors of the source. This is needed to meet the "appropriate credit" provision of many Creative Commons licenses, which provide (for examples in all of those covered by this template) that: "If supplied, you must provide the name of the creator and attribution parties". This field is not always required, as some sources simply do not supply the authors, and for others (for example, Wikipedia content), it is specified that a link to the URL of a page, which has an accessible page history, is sufficient credit to its author or authors.
